Fine, I'll concede a point. It looks more like the iPhone 6 than it does the iPhone 7.

 

So samsung is behind a generation now. Seems about right.

The iphone has curved glass on the edge, that's pretty common. The edge screen is literally curved. Huge difference. There is not an iota of resemblance between the 6S and S8, totally different design. The iphone is an aluminum slab, this is a curved glass and aluminum sandwich

In business, this is called a sunk cost. You treat it as money lost, not something that has to desperately be made back. The desperation can lead to being cheap, and Samsung is not in a position where it can deal with 2 generations of phone disasters. That will give it a much more negative view in the public eye. That being said Samsung is a huge company and I'm sure had nothing but financial growing pains with the note 7 fiasco. If they try to upsell the s8 they need the marketing (another large expense) to back it up. Otherwise they won't sell enough units and actually end up making less profit than say 1.6 times the units at $700. Consumers won't pay a large corporation pity money for a phone, they pay for what they expect to receive in benefit from using the phone. This is the way of supply and demand.

 

I guess an analogy would be that no one is going to pay twice the price through Steam for no man's sky so Hello Games can recoup their losses in hopes they will improve the game in the future.

I'm confident that there will be a push to 6GB or 8GB of RAM in these handsets, given that Samsung want to implement a "Continuum-like" desktop feature, it would make sense for multi-tasking to have more memory available, not to mention the fact that sticking with a measly 4GB of RAM wouldn't exactly be "wowing" people after the whole farce with the Note 7. To be honest, these look like prototypes to me, I think we'll be a little bit more pleased with the design changes once the device is unveiled in March.

 

For the record, it's likely that the US will receive the Snapdragon 835 and the international models will receive either the Exynos 8895V or 8895M. We've seen a rising trend in Samsung treating the rest of the world to the Exynos chipset and the US market to the Qualcomm variant, as was so with the S7/E.

 

I'll be publishing a full run-down on the rumour-mill and what I'm expecting from Samsung shortly so keep your eyes peeled.

Finally, someone on this post who is listening to reason. People seem to forget that by removing the home button and decreasing the bezel size that you can have a smaller over-all device footprint yet larger screen real-estate. :)

You can get S6 anytime. Fast, discounted and sexy. Camera pretty good too. I am personally aiming for S7 Edge, especially since the price should drop.

It still looks like the speaker is going to be subpar...kudos for keeping the headphone jack though. I hope they can put their shiny new Harman assets to use soon. And holy cow, 5.8 inches is the smallest size? even if the bezels are slim, that's still a handful to a lot of people.

I find shiny/chrome like metal on a phone to be ugly and tasteless. And that exposed sensor below the single led (say what?) flash too..

Also that rear finger print sensor... smh. probably fine holding with your left hand as your index finger is closer but with your right hand? FInger gymnastic i can imagine. why not put it in the center? 

 

What's with trying to turn your phone into a pc like Continuum now? Thought everyone hates/condemns it when Microsoft does the same with W10M.. Is it going to just another glorified android on large screen when connected to an external monitor, just like using an android tablet?

Ill take the 6.2" please.. Ladies.. I am coming from a Note 5.(Just broke the screen). 

 

One of the only things that worries me is the 3500mah battery. 3500/4000 would have been a better choice IMO. I hope there will be a 'Flat' model. I really don't want an Edge Display.

Ow, and 3.5mm jack too, cool they'll keep it still I guess. Personally, wouldn't mind having Type-C only.

Also it seems they won't be increasing RAM then huh, interesting. Though battery, it will be interesting to see how it hold to compare. Well it's looking to be really great phone so far, specially like the screen-to-body ration they're going for with reduced bezels.

I know someone with heart issues who uses the sensor to keep his heart in check. I think athletes also use it, to keep their heart rate in check and make sure they're not over-exerting themselves.
