Here's to hoping Super Flower and EVGA don't fuck it up with the B3 and I'll recommend them if they compete with the CXM purely on the basis of fully modular.

Awesome list, nice to find out after I bought my PSU that it's 2nd tier. I found a good deal on a unopened 750w capstone 80+ gold for $40 on craigslist, so I'm more happy with the buy!

So that FSP Hydro 600W lasted two weeks. Popped last night, sent it back and getting a CX550M. 

 

We were wondering on its quality.. Its did also give a bunch of other problems.

it was entirely possible that the psu you got was a dud rather than the entire lineup being bad.

Yeah completely possible, but it was a model that wasn't on the list and guys here were wondering on its quality, so just giving a update.

It probably was, but the FSP Hydro is group regulated anyway so meeeeeeeEh

the seasonic s12ii was group regulated too, still a good psu.

I suppose you're right. That said I only trust Seasonic to pull off a good group regulated unit.

i think so, almost all the wattage is on the 12v rail. but i'm not an expert of course :P

If the 12V rail is rated for exactly 750W / 850W, you can bet it's not group regulated. Or maybe it's a hybrid where some rails are on a group and the others are generated by DC-DC. I'm not the biggest expert on these.

only now learning the value of my Antec EDGE in my main rig.. dual rails FTMFW ! 

 

Hoping the CX will be a better fit.

I think it is...for example, my XFX XXX 850watt 80+ bronze is based off the M12II (according to realhardtech OEM list) and I know for a fact my XXX is DC-DC :P 

 

If a PSU is basically a rebranded M12II and is semi-modular instead of fully-modular, we can probably expect it using the same topology? :D

Possibly, but based doesn't mean the same. It could be based and just be a crappier version on what it was based on.

The new Corsair VS line isn't that bad. Certainly competes well with the older green CX units that are rated one or two tiers higher in your list.
