Go to solution Solved by Spotty,

This is a legacy list. It is no longer being updated.

The new PSU Tier List can be found here:

I don't even get it, choosing the right PSU is like the hardest part if you are on budget.

If this doesn't make it easier what does?

probably pass on the Riotoro unit until someone can give me a location where this is a viable option.

Similarly priced to B3 650W and CX650M.

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

The problem with limiting the list with pricing is that regional pricing and sales cause drastic fluctuations in pricing. So what might be a bad value today in region A could be an amazing choice tomorrow in region B.

Ah, reminds me of a person who commented on this thread a couple of months ago demanding that we should take price into consideration :P

Nope...

All I'm gonna say is he's based in Germany and kept pointing to a German (only) forum stating how they've taking price into consideration for 24~ (if I remember correctly) specific models/units :P

Frankly I've forgotten his name hence not naming xD

yeah price should not how the list is made but only the quality and the problem is also with marketing because those bastards pick the most popular piece of hardware and take advantage of it  to rise the price 2 times more it's original price even tho people bought it for its budget friendly aspect.

Which model? The CM units that has a 460w rating I can think of on top of my head are all quite bad.

Im sorry I made a mistake. I meant Rosewill Photon, Based on reviews, its very noisy and it breaks pretty quickly.

That's got to do with the fan being pretty bad quality; we don't rank PSUs based on noise only on their electrical reliability. I will look into it breaking though.

That said anyone who's concerned about noise in their PSU I encourage to mod in a Noctua NF-F12 (if the unit is 650W+, do the 2000RPM iPPC version) into their PSU. It's not that hard (but take the necessary precautions such as leave it disconected overnight so the capacitors don't discharge on you which could harm you).

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Anything from Cooler Master that is very cheap is a bad one in my experience. Don't get it. For cheap units that are fine look at Antec stuff (the Basiq Series especially the ones made by Delta like the VP450F) or used Deltas. Hell even the Bronze units from EVGA aren't that bad. (Don't use on builds with graphics over 150W though)

So where do the TXm units from Corsair fit in here? They're starting to hit the shelves.

http://www.ncix.com/detail/corsair-tx650m-650-watt-80-a8-140021.htm?promoid=1700

http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=11181140020&vpn=CP-9020133-NA&manufacture=CORSAIR

Priced a little above CXm, and a little below RMx. 80+ Gold, it's like a semi modular RMx series. (I hope)

Impressive warranty too, 2 years longer than the 5year warranty the TX(650) units had.

Personal build >  New-ish AMD main gaming setup

PLEASE QUOTE OR @ ME FOR A RESPONSE xD

They are the replacements for the CS line, they are based on the same platform as the CS, just have been slightly improved.

If they're the CS with a not sleeve-bearing then they'll go tier 2. Depends on the hardware inside them though which we don't know much about AFAIK.

Damn, it's really good. This is probably tier 2.

Well look at electrical performance versus an RMi and you'll see why, but it's still extremely good.
