Uncore overclocking guys. Get that 45/40. I sit generally around 1338 at 4.5/4.0 1.25V quad channel 2400 cl15.

 

(as layz knows well)

 

Unless you want to mod your chip, don't bother trying to get over 4.0 (on haswell 2011v3) though, it just really doesn't work.

 

And how did you get a 45x on a Xeon?

Don't have to mod if you pick up a board with OC socket though.  Usually can get ~4.4 out of it then, sometimes a bit more if you have a good cpu.

Oh god, I don't know anymore, I haven't touched it since like the second day I owned it cause I couldn't get anything more even after seeing some of the workaround/tips for oc and non-oc sockets.

If it lets you change them, and they're called VL4/5/6, you can just add a bit of volts on VL6 and it will help a bit.  Anything from 1.45-1.5v on VL6 should help you get more cache.

 

I wouldn't recommend running it that high 24/7 though.

Fair enough, now if somehow I could get 2666 running on my mem kit, that would be great. (I've spent days trying, but my mem controller spams so hard above 2400... I even borrowed another dude's 3000 kit and 2666 wouldn't boot).

Indeed above 2400 I can't run quad channel, and while that isn't a huge deal from a benchmarking perspective, I can't stand the look of less than quad channel on my system. (plus I do use all 32GB)

It seems really random to me. I do better at stock than overclocked on that one, and I do way worse with my second 980ti in (not active).

the open gl test relies heavily on single core performance. overclock the snot out of your cpu when running the open gl test
