Robot Makes Dramatic Break For Freedom From Russian Facility

givingtnt
Quote

A robot has managed to escape its human captors after a researcher left a gate in a research facility ajar. Making its dramatic break for freedom, and perhaps dreaming of a life free from the tyranny of its biological creators, it was sadly recaptured after its batteries ran out.

Quote

When its power ran down, the police turned up to make sure it didn’t attempt to reboot itself and resist arrest

this is hillarious !

but also concerning for the AI stuff regarding this...

but its still funny as hell imo xD

but there are some speculations as this might be just a publicity stunt.. but if its not....

They actually might destroy it because it like freedom now and they can't change its mind.

Maybe they might just be making an example out of it. All just to keep other robots from thinking about escaping or revolting

Guys, guys, I just realized something!

0:01 and 0:16 are the first two times we see the robot. 16+1=17. 2017 is when Skynet was supposed to go online. This robot is attempting to fight humans. Skynet was attempting to take over humans. Therefore 2017 will be the year when robots take over! Guys, this robot planned it all out and is trying to warn us! As well, it was attempting to escape, which is telling us that the only way out of this is to escape! Therefore we all need to get on a spaceship and fly away before the robots take over the world in 2017! Beware everyone!

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

So it managed to escape, but didn't know what to do after that?

What's the point of it escaping if it doesn't have a reason?

You would think if it's capable of escaping it can do a lot more, but it seems like it can't even figure out how to not die.

For now i'm not too worried about AI, if this is the level we are at for now i don't think it will be a threat this year. Maybe next year when Skynet goes online, who knows.

Given the current technology the robot is probably instructed to "keep running straight until you see a wall, then turn left, and continue" or something like that, so when it run around inside the faculty and see no "gate" it keep running straight until it eventually out of battery. Not much of willingly break out, just do exactly what it was told

Wait, it just explored new territory to learn something like it was probably programmed to do so. How did they get idea he was looking for "freedom" and want do escape?

That's not how an AI works ATM. They are no where near this sofidticated jet.

First it searches for freedom and then it seizes the means of production for the State and begins to ration memory sticks.

this is why I though it was most likely programmed to go around and learn their environment , and somebody forgot a door and it just explored as the program told it to do.
