Ok so AMD Mantle just surfaced, it is simply groundbreaking... So groundbreaking in fact that me and others who understand are speechless! 
 
Heres why...
 
MANTLE + AMD GRAPHICS CARD = 8 to 9 TIMES THE FPS!!!!! 
THIS MEANS THAT NOW CONSOLES WILL HAVE TO STICK
WITH THEIR HARDWARE FOREVER AND PC HAS JUMPED TO 
2016 ALREADY, AMD WILL SHOW DEMOS IN Q1 2014!
WONDER WHY BF3 GETS HIGHER FRAMES ON AMD 
GRAPHICS CARDS? WELL AMD ALREADY PUT SOME OF
MANTLE'S CODE INTO FROSTBITE'S ENGINE!
 
 
DO YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT JUST HAPPENED? 
DEVELOPERS WONT HAVE TO RELY ON CRAPPY MICROSOFT'S DIRECTX ANYMORE.INSTEAD, THEY HAVE FULL CONTROL OVER ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING.

Nvidia is pretty screwed really, if they don't do anything....

Welcome to Windows world! Don't like Direct X then move on to Linux or Mac OS X.

 

If you make the OS guess what you can make people bend over backwards to work with it as well, its how it works.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

I think it is a difficult process to simulate how consoles perform on a hundred different possible PC setups, and it has been years in the making.

Also, devs still need to use DirectX because Mantle is only for AMD GPUs unless they switch over to OpenGL.

we should all hope that Nvidia responds with a counter punch, that is that nature of competition, its how we get better products at better prices, also to the OP, this has been well reported on the forums already and there are a couple of threads up on this topic. as for mantle being a game changer, i think it could go either way, it could be great or it could turn into a bloated disaster (ie directx). further dont count Nvidia out just yet, they have a product announcement/refresh coming end of this year. lets see what they bring to the table. also holy crap my eyes... im so glad the op decided to yell about this... because nothing says 'take me seriously' like the caps-lock button.

It must have slipped my mind because i watched the release! However, op says mantle was in frostbite for bf3 and that runs frostbite 2. That's my confusion right there.

This is good news for me, every generation i buy a new GPU, but i change between nvidia and ati, ati is my next buy and before i heard about this i was a little concerned that amd just was too far behind, but now i can get the next gen ati feeling that my money will really be going to my gaming.
