Owners of new Titan x/980 ti/980 what and how do you feel/ think about new GPU release?

When I found out NVIDIA chose not to release their newest GPU at the precise moment when it is most beneficial to me, and me alone, I immediately smashed my 980ti, burned down my house, drove my car off a cliff, and voted for Donald Trump.

not all, just most (there will always be people with excessive amounts of money who dont care about what they spend and when)

because you need to be really dumb to wait a year to buy something like a titan X (already a waste of money compared to a 980ti) and then blow all the money so close to a new release

its called forethought

and luckily most people have it

PC Gamer and PC enthusiast aren't synonymous, you know?

And why not? Maybe she's a PC gamer. She may be wrecking you  in CS:GO (if you play it), unbeknownst to you.

well pc gamers are always obsessed with performance per dollar, so they would definitely know about new GPUs coming soon that are better and cheaper

I'm kind of bummed. Tech just seems to be getting too good too fast lately that you just can't win, my 980 Ti's aren't even a year old yet and have had little use due to monitor rma. You buy their flagship model than a year or 2 later it get's shit on by the newer model (I know it's to be expected). I've only looked at the Ti models but judging from the 1080's specs there's no doubt the 1080 Ti will be a monster, I can see a single card handing 4K well.

I have a 980ti

First of all, what I feel is that I'm not going to judge a card based on what sellers claim it will be, I'll judge them based on in-game benchmarks, both in Framerate and temperatures.

Second of all, considering price drops it's better to get a second 980ti/Titan rather then getting a 1080 and getting SLI for more performance.

And thirdly, it depends on what you use it for, I have a 980ti on a 1080p 144hz monitor I don't want a 27" screen and right now everything runs silky smooth(Overwatch maxed at 150-154FPS for instance) so why do I need more performance? sure if you want to go 4K gaming @60FPS go for it, but I don't

As a 980 owner I'm excited, I'm happy with my current performance and I know that it will only last so long, usually up to 2 gens before it'll truly start struggling maintain 1080p performance.

At least I know there's a worthy successor to upgrade to, but also creates the expectation of something really good coming with the next Ti...

Very exciting times, though I will be  waiting for the spec of the titan of the new series to decide on whether I will be upgrading or waiting for Volta.
Looking forward to seeing how the better tech plays out in the 3d design space.

Yeah tech will always continue to evolve, improve and expand but i like where it's going. The 1080 and 1070 is faster than the 970-980-980ti so it could be justified that it would be more expensive but it's not, it's actually cheaper! And that is what I like about the new release; harder, better faster, stronger, cheaper.

Top tier doesn't stay top tier forever. The 980 Ti/Titan X came about about a year ago. You expect a given level of performance to drop a price point every 12-18 months.

Pointless thread...this is like asking me how I felt when I bought my 2 290x and the 970 and 980 came out a year later...oh wait, I bought my 2 290x reference cards new for less than a single 780 so...I feel absolutely fine especially when the refreshed version (390x) of my GPU is trading blows with the 980 :D

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Same here. I don't trust the sugar coated, ideal lab conditions in which they present the 1080 specs at the moment. I'll definitely wait for the 1080Ti (next year maybe?) to upgrade, since Ti cards are a lot better investment overall.

I completely disagree, this thread isn't pointless. The thread was not only to discuss the upcoming release of 1080 and 1070 but also to give each other inputs about how they feel and think about the release and what they'll do when the new cards arrive. This can't exactly be googled unless there is a forum thread for it.

And this thread has really given me what I wanted. Information and opinions. As I myself will be buying the 1080 I do really wonder what other pc enthusiats and gamer think.

You could have easily named it "thoughts on the new 1070/1080" but instead, you also ask owners of 980ti and titan Xes to input their thoughts which is frankly, they don't care as some have had their cards for almost a year and in the time space of 12 months, it's obvious that the new cards will have better performance for the same or less pretty pennies :D

PLEASE NOTE that this thread's intention is not to start a flame war nor bash on people decisions. It is meant purely as a way for me/ us to discuss the upcoming release of pascal and what it means for the people with a fairly new GPU.

But what I really do wonder is what do you think, the people who own a 980ti or titan x, will you buy the new 1080/ 1070 or will you never upgrade or perhaps wait until a newer version like maybe a 1080 ti will release? (even though we can't know for sure if it will or when it will). And when did you buy your card? was it a month ago you posted a thread in ''new builds and planning'' asking for recommendations about what processor or gpu you should buy and was it then you ignored the people saying ''wait for pascal, it's gonna be much better''? Or was it a year ago you bought your card?

Bud, you can deny all you want, but anyone who read this knew exactly what you were doing.

The funny thing is that someone calls you out for it and then you switch to the following, which by the way, is not even remotely similar to your title or opening post.

If that's the case, why not just start a thread addressed to everyone?  As someone who does not own a 980, 980 Ti, or a Titan X, why are you so worried about the feelings of those who do?  You were hoping to get a slew of pissed off 980, 980 Ti, and Titan X owners, but that didn't exactly happen.  Next time try a more direct approach.

I'm not hating on you for doing it, but I do think it's funny that people call you out and all of a sudden you act like provoking isn't what you were trying to do.

I like the way it's evolving too but it's just too fast. The 980 had 4GB and now the 1080 has 8GB which is a huge jump from when the 780 went to the 980.

The prices are something to keep in mind. The current Ti model cost way more than the previous which really shits me so I'm really keen to see the new Ti model's pricing.

Not everyone have had it for a year, haven't you seen how many new builders requesting help in ''new build and planning''? And most of the responses were either get a 980ti/ 980 (if they had the budget) or wait for pascal. My friend is currently planning for a build, I told him to wait like I am doing and he did it, now he is extremely happy meanwhile my other classmate bought a 980 a month or so back and he is very jealous and mad with himself for being greedy and not waiting.

And at the same time I feel like you haven't even read through my original post or the complete of this thread. I asked multiple questions and was trying to start discussion not only for the owners of said GPU's but also about the cooler design and etc. And even if it should have been titled differently, who cares? ''Wow this post is titled wrongly, the world is going to end!''... Yeah, not really and especially since it wasn't clickbait or remotely close to that. So yet again I disagree. :/

Now seriously, what is wrong with you @done12many2? Do you really just assume I'm an awful person and what to start a flame war? I honestly can't tell if you're the one trying to start a flame war or if you haven't read the thread at all and just assumed a sh*t (excuse the profanity) load of stuff.

So basically you're dissing me for trying to start a flame war when you wanted one? Yeah gr8 b8 m8 I r8 8/8. No but seriously, what? I wasn't provoking at all, give me an example of when I was trying to provoke someone.

And you are hating on me. Maybe not much hate and not directly said but you are accusing me of trying to start something terrible.

I hope this clear up any misunderstandings or anything else. I'm not mad with you, I just disagree. And lastly I won't be replying to you again. No need for it, since I've said what I wanted to say and I don't want this thread becoming what you wanted to happen.

Have a good one!

I wish I had held onto my 970 instead of getting a 980ti a few months ago. I will probably pick up a 1080 in six or seven months anyway.

Honestly that's a great idea. Instead of jumping on the hype train like everybody else (like me ;) ) you can be satisfied with what you have and once you buy it you can see the benchmarks, ''real'' performance gain and etc. A lot of other designs of it (non-reference) will also have been released.

Yeah, I don't really like reference coolers. Not because of the heat but more because of the look. I also want to replace my 1080p screens with 1440 over the summer so that will give me a reason to upgrade as well.
