Owners of new Titan x/980 ti/980 what and how do you feel/ think about new GPU release?

Probably the ones who can't upgrade often. Someone like me (a college student majoring in Multimedia/Computer Graphics) who doesn't have a whack-load of cash walkin' around.

Still doesn't make sense why you'd feel bad about Pascal.  Your current card is going to work just fine after Pascal's release.

I have nothing against new cards. Technology needs to proceed and any hardware is going to lose its value and be replaced by better one. Even if 1070 comes out with 980 Ti performance for $379, I will sell my 980 Ti for around 300, add a bit from my wallet and get similar performance but way more efficient card, so there is some loose in value, but performance per dollar is not suffering much.

I am interested in getting AMD card rather than Nvidia since I have FreeSync monitor.

For now I am very interested in efficiency of new cards that should allow silent gaming. I may ditch 980 Ti for something of similar performance just to get rid of all of this heat and wait for Vega on something that doesn't need to have to run at 85 C to be acceptable in terms of noise. I am really looking forward to switch to 14 nm GPU and CPU on some good air coolers and eliminate noise, finally.

I'm fine. I love new hardware. I own a 980ti. And I've been happy with my purchase since I bought it last June. I'll wait another year or two before I even think about upgrading it. Of course if someone gave me a sweet deal for my 980ti I would definitely jump. But no reason for me to upgrade.

Thanks! Around June is when I will get all but the watercooling and the GPUs. I want to see if Nvidia is going to do another round of Titans like they did with Maxwell (Titan X). I can sure use the horsepower :D. You can check out my build log in my signature.

I originally planned on going with Z170, but soon I decided to go with X99 instead.

Great choice with x99 considering your education and career field.  Obviously I'm a little biased. :D  Nice move on going with a custom loop.  I'm biased towards them as well.

Yeah. My cooling solution for now is an AIO. I originally considered Corsair, but considering how loud those are, I instead chose the Cooler Master MasterLiquid Pro 240. I was originally irrational about Cooler Master at the time, but they've released some products that have caught my attention (the coolers in general). The loop is going to be nickel-plated copper piped dual loops (because why the hell not? Dual loops look cool IMO)

I think.....nothing really. Sure I love to have the latest and greatest, but I'm completely happy with my Dual 980 Ti Hybrids!

If you're happy with your setup, then good. Personally the only time I would upgrade my GPUs would be if the latest game I'm trying to play is far too demanding for the settings I'm aiming for. There's no way that AAA a game from 2013 (Crysis 3 and ARMA 3) would make the latest GPUs incapable of driving those games at the highest fidelity allowed. That's not how it works.

of course its "fine"

the titan X and 980ti still perform the same as they did before the product launch

the only thing is that they could have gotten much better value for their money had they waited a few months like literally everyone was telling them to do

Who doesnt want more performance for less money??

Most of the people ive seen on reddit are planning to sell their 900 or titan X card and get a 1080

but i bet quite a few people will just wait until the 1080ti and save up in the meantime

I'm sorry, I didn't understand the point of this thread.

if you feel anything else than excitement about the new cards...if you have buyer regrets and shit...you should have bought a PS4 because there will ALWAYS be something better just around the corner...like that GTX 1080...it's only a matter of a few months before nvidia release the big pascal chip (next Titan and GTX 1080ti) and those will seriously blow the GTX 1080 out of the water...like +50%.

I'd rather have a G-sync 3440x1440 144/160 Hz IPS all day long.
More immersive widescreen, better FPS, less GPU requirement.
As for the 1080 Ti, it is quite far away, almost a year... Q1 2017.
I want one as well but I will buy a 1080 to wait for it and drop it off just before the announcement of the big pascal.
The 1080 won't loose that much money as the 1080 ti will still be same gen, and around 800$

A 1080 Ti seems like it'll be substantially more powerful than a 980 Ti.  So, it should probably be a pretty good card for 4K.  The plan was to get two of them as well.  I have two 980 Tis right now.

Sure it will put them to shame.
As for your 980 Tis, their value will only go down by the time its 1080 Ti time.
By selling them soon and putting the money towards 1080s you are both getting better perf and securing your investment better.
Granted, you'll lose a bit in the resell process come Q1 2017 but even then you'll maybe have lost as much as if you just sold your 980 Tis in Q1 2017 only with my solution you benefit from the 1080s for almost a year.

if you feel anything else than excitement about the new cards...if you have buyer regrets and shit...you should have bought a PS4 because there will ALWAYS be something better just around the corner...like that GTX 1080...it's only a matter of a few months before nvidia release the big pascal chip (next Titan and GTX 1080ti) and those will seriously blow the GTX 1080 out of the water...like +50%.

Exactly.  Every release is going to be the latest and greatest for a short time.  Enjoy it while it lasts, but be prepared to replace.

Doesn't bug me, I had already been saving money to upgrade when it releases and sell my 980 ti.

Already got my moneys worth out of my 980 ti, already did what I wanted to with it basically.   I'm fine with losing $300 to upgrade to a 1080.

i think they should feel bad because they are impulse buyers with no patience or budgeting skills :)

Is it really that big of a deal though? If you have a job and budget properly, spending a few hundred and selling your old card to pay for the new one every ~6 months is not that much money in the grand scheme of things. That's only $50 a month you have to save, if you only need to spend ~300 on the upgrade.

I guess it kind of makes me glad that I won't be building my PC until summertime. Though I'm aware of Zen coming out but I'll put some money into Skylake.

I'm not sure I have sympathy for those experiencing some buyers remorse after a better and cheaper product supplants their "old" product. Even though their GPU is still rather relevant.
