MSI SLI bridge now comes with a fan

NumLock21

msi-sli-bridge-kit-2.png

MSI has launched 2 more SLI bridges to their collection by allowing user to run in either 3-way or 4-way SLI with MSI's GTX 900 series graphic cards. Both of those bridges have a dimension of L:160mm x W:61mm x H:22mm and weights 236grams. The 3-way SLI bridge has a spacing of 40-80mm and 4-way SLI bridge has a spacing of 40mm. The "MSI" is LED illuminated so you can customize and unlike their 2 way SLI bridge. These come with a 120mm fan, so you can keep your graphic cards cool. Due to the spacing on the 3-way SLI bridge, Skylake board may not support it unless the board can do 4-way SLI with a PLX chip. So these bridges are mostly designed for some X99 platforms, where they can support up to 3-way or 4-way SLI. No pricing on them yet.

My only issue is, a lot of aftermarket coolers push air out the sides of the cards, so you'd practically just be blowing all that hot air back into the GPU's.

I think you're suppose to post something you think about this.. so what do you think about this. Is it necessary or overkill

You know how it is, the cow goes "moo", the dog goes "woof" and the gamer goes "The PvP is unbalanced."

I don't give opinions into news topics. Giving a opinion is basically another way to make sure the poster knows what they're posting instead of just copy and paste. And if you're looking for a one, it's blended right into the what I've summarized from the press release.

I think hot air escapes from all sides of the card, where ever it can. The blower style, hot air can only go out the back because of the shroud.

Good point but that would only be the case for open air GPU's not blower type designs.

True, but That's because when you put four of them on a mobo they're really close to each other. Besides, who would need a quad Titan X GPU setup anyway?

Doesn't matter, if they have it they need a fan.

Why exactly did you post a thread and said "Will update" when you just made another one?

Why didn't you just update the last one?

Got some personal things to do. Now is there a time limit as to when a post has to be edited before a bunch of newbs start reporting it for shit post thinking they can be one step closer to becoming a mod.

At first, when I read the title, I thought there would be like a little 15mm fan just cooling the wires of the sli bridge, and I thought, "that's fucking snakeoil", but once I saw the pictures, it made more sense.

But, thinking about it more, why would you spend upwards of $1500 on a 3 way sli config, and not have the room/ability/money to do a custom watercooling loop.

Not everyone wants to void their warranty by water cooling, some want to just slap it together and have some beast machine without any maintenance or water changes or leak fears.

Plus you have to admit, with the right air cooled cards this might look pretty bad ass.

Do you even fanboy bro?

yeah, it actually would look pretty bad ass, if the colors weren't red/black, which, yeah, I understand that's msi's theme. But still, that's overdone it's hard to make that color combination look great.

It looks a little gaudy, hopefully they'll do a carbon fiber edition like they did with the godlike board.

My m.2 sits between my gpu's, and puts out more heat than I'd like..

This would be awesome for that.

Higher frame rate over higher resolution.

MSI's 2-way SLI bridge on Newegg cost $30 dollars. Wont' be surprised to see those 3-way and 4-way costing more. Maybe a lot more because of that fan.

Ultimately, I find this concept to be pointless. A lot of cases allow you to mount fans to the side panel.

Not a lot of windowed panels do though, which seem to be very popular in our community :P

I guess we can wait for reviews to come out to see if it actually makes a difference.

Anyone here want to do a review of this contraption?
