So when gpus were new, they were "janky" so we should have just stopped then. this is a really good thing, APU's will- be pc gaming in 20 years, we will move away from seperate gpus and cpus.

Affordability is a darn good argument IMO. A homogenous market is something no one wants, and an elitist or monied interest argument for it is the weakest of all. Subjective value trumps all, opine all you like but second guessing others' motivations is disingenuous.

Intel is nowhere near the same pricing, and when you include ancillary hardware NEEDED, especially for the newest platform, you can build an AMD machine for a lot less when you start including the costs of motherboard and RAM. Anything else is another set of decisions to make, GPU wasn't a part of the original comment.

 

As for subjective value, I wasn't speaking of prices or performance, but someone getting what they want for what they are willing to pay. If someone is unwilling to spend over 500 bucks no matter the performance they could get for more that is their prerogative, and you MAY disagree with it, but calling it out is disingenuous if the argument is Intel is better, but only for more money. This is not a one-dimensional paradigm we are speaking of here. This is a fractious market with many competing desires when it comes to what you spend your money on and why. Even among gamers.

Intel also has iGPU's. APU gaming is moot anyway, even if AMD's APU's are faster than the Skylake lineup, it's still pretty abysmal.

 

And no, then the motherboard wouldn't have proper VRM's. This is the cheapeast 8+2 VRM board.
