Well I am on my second mech and so far loving it, the drevo blademaster lives up to its name as the best sub $100 mech keyboard.

I am really digging these gateron browns compared to my older Otumu blues, my typing is far quieter and the response to my typing is quite accurate.

I almost went with the reds but others suggested I might be more happy with the browns.

That seems to be correct so far as I do like the key feel here, its quite smooth compared to my cherry blue clones from my last keyboard.

Well its understandable as Cherry makes itself very well known compared to its chinese counterparts.

Kailh is trying though, they seem to be really be going for a market injection with some unique switches.

The one thing I do like about Kailh is that they seem to be willing to listen to input, as

Chyrosran22 on youtube has commented on a few occasions so good on them.

Gateron seems to play it safe though, oetemu is certainly more known for its mouse buttons but gateron isnt really a household name.

Gateron is a household name for anyone at least vaguely interested in keyboards. They are the OEM for all Zeal switches, and their Ink series switches are also know for being excellent. Outemu has the Sky and Ice series, which are also well liked.

Perhaps but if you know little of keyboards then the name may not mean much and a first time mech buyer may splurge for cherrys instead even though both gateron and Kailh have fairly large fanbases and some argue cherry isnt as good these days as its Chinese counterparts.

Well, they're raise and lower, not fn, but:

Also the key on the far left could be fn if I ever decide to actually assign it to anything.  Then again, any of these keys could be fn if I wanted them to be.  QMK is awesome.

they are VERY different switches

 

Box Jades are a lot heavier with a lot crisper and harsh feeling click

 

pro greens are factory lubed with a light crunch and lighter spring, very smooth

On boards I have with a more normal layout and a caps lock, I'll have capslock set to caps on press, fn layer on hold

So I just realized that the extra F and J keys that came with my SP dsa kit have a point.  They're "deep dish" for finding the home row. 

 

I have been running a deep dish F and a regular J since I built my board.

ah, not a fan of smol boards

 

tbh I didn't think I would be either but now I can't go back to a 100% board (I've been using a 96 key for the past few months) and really love my Anne Pro 2

i like small boards, but i also like funcionality
