First time build

Budget (including currency): $600us

Country: us/Florida

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: manor lords, hydroneer, ext.

Other details: used parts okay. I have a 1tb gen4 nvme.(samsung)

I have never built a pc before. I only need the tower. Don't care at all about look or rgb. Not going to stream. May have room on the budget. I'm not a pro gamer. I don't need a crazy setup. I don't need to play on ultra settings, but would like it to look okay. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Help please?

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 3.5 GHz 6-Core Processor  ($136.89 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: MSI B550 GAMING GEN3 ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($99.00 @ MSI)
Memory: *Silicon Power GAMING 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory  ($37.97 @ Amazon)
Video Card: *PowerColor Fighter Radeon RX 6600 8 GB Video Card  ($199.99 @ Amazon)
Case: Montech AIR 903 BASE ATX Mid Tower Case  ($59.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: *MSI MAG A550BN 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($49.00 @ MSI)
Custom: 1tb nvme ($0.00)
Total: $582.84
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
*Lowest price parts chosen from parametric criteria

Used parts options:

CPU: 5600/5600x (or 5700x 5800x those might be more expensive and would need better CPU cooler)

MB: New MB or find a seller that's selling MB with CPU

RAM: 2x8GB 3200-3600Mhz 18-16CL

GPU: anything used in this range (care that GTX 10 series and RX 5000 series cards are very old)

image.png.194eab241d6ccbe0a0f0c79e320ff039.png

  • All the cards are fast enough for your use, you don't need to buy the fastest card from the list, even the slowest on it will be good. (some of the cards aren't that old and you probably won't find them for much cheaper on the used market)

Case: you can basically get any case that can fit the GPU and isn't small form factor that it fits the PSU and MB

PSU: better get good quality new, it's the thing that powers your hardware, you want that to not malfunction or be bad (similar reason to get new MB if you're not getting MB+CPU combo from someone)

I can get that gpu for $250 new

Would this be okay?

it works, but you're paying 100$ more for 6% increase in raster performance and 4GB of VRAM

also the RAM has slow CL22, bigger number = slower, it's more expensive too

the case looks like this:

image.png.665b8f96a69faec55da4fdec83c68ac0.png

the CPU is a bit slower but can work,

if you want more fans get these:

Case Fan: ARCTIC P12 Slim PWM PST 42.1 CFM 120 mm Fans 3-Pack  ($21.99 @ Amazon)

But your budget build doesn't need many fans.

the T6 comes with 1 fan at the back,

the Montech AIR 903 BASE comes with 3 fans already installed, that's why I put it in my list,

If you want black case you can look at Montech X3 Mesh,

if you want to alter list and don't want to spend time looking for RAM, just get my list and click this button: (changes will not change my list and will be only on your list)

image.png.8ef4481dfcbc86519b5b2bde1733fe39.png

Overall I wouldn't spend 100$ more on a 6% faster GPU only to be forced to drop to CPU that is 20% overall slower. And both slower and more expensive RAM, definitely change that.

go for the used 6700xt as itll demolish the 3060

as for the build its pretty meh for 600$ but considering its all new ill say its ok ish

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/x39CQP

heres a build with a bit more emphasis on used but ill leave some new options aswell

used 5600(x) are ~80$ and if available youd be pretty stupid not to grab em considering how overpriced new am4 cpus are (12600kf is 15$ more and outperforms the 5600), used 3600(x) can also be found around the 50$ mark

ive left an option for a new board at 70$ but you can save money and get a better board if you buy used, midranger b3/450 boards like the tomahawk or equivalent are around the 50$ mark and are much better boards whilst being cheaper, just have to check abit more thoroughly to make sure it works fine and there arent any dead ports or anything like thst cause any completely random issue that isnt ram related is almost always gonna be mobo related hence why i left an option for a new board

used 3080/6800xt are around the 350$ mark and demolish the 6700xt though if you want a new gpu theres also an xfx 319 core 6800 at 375$ incase your local used market is meh

used case as you dont wanna be wasting 60$ on a hunk of metal that doesnt contribute to performance, should be able to find some decent ones 10-20$ used, if you cant find ones with good airflow you can always just take the sidepanel off or take the front panel off for airflow
