CS:GO is the best selling game on steam in 2015. Beats GTA V and Fallout 4.

So it appears that CS:GO (an almost 3 year old game) sold more copies this year than Fallout 4 (a month old game) and Grand Theft Auto V for PC (a 6 month old game ).

 

This is quite interesting as usually as a game gets older the amount of sales slowly decrease. Usually most sales (probably around 70%) happen within 6 months after release with 30% happening after the 6 months. (MY estimations, not factual in any way shape or form).

 

 

 

 

How did more people pick Arkham Knight than Mad max?

 

Might be due to marketing, advertising and the Sheep lining up to buy Batman games.

 

Steam Spy creator Sergey Galyonkin recently put together and published an initial report on Medium, revealing preliminary results for on Valve Corporations’ digital PC video game content distribution platform. The report lists games that sold the most copies globally in 2015, and offers sales data for games sold in each individual region in which the platform is available. While Fallout 4 ranked just above GTA V in the list of of 2015 in the US, having sold just under 1 million copies, Valve’s own 2012 FPS topped the chart worldwide, with more than 5.6 million copies sold.

The amount of copies sold by Counter Strike: Global Offensive is significantly higher than that of Rockstar’s blockbuster Grand Theft Auto V’s, which managed to sell a little under 3.6 million copies. Fallout 4 took the third spot on the list, selling over 2.4 million copies globally, and ARK: Survival Evolved managed to exceed expectations with more than 2.1 million sales even though the game’s launch on Early Access was pretty crummy.

Of course, it should be kept in mind that Steam Spy is not run by Valve, and these figures shared here are come from examining public profiles on Steam, this means all these figures are estimations and aren’t necessarily precisely accurate. Also note that the numbers only count games activated from April 1 to December 20. “I don’t have any data before that,” Galyonkin wrote in his post. “I did my best to filter out giveaways and temporarily free games (from the lists), but all lists here might contain some mistakes,” he added

i dont doubt it because i know some people who have like 5 accounts because they hack one one and get banned and buy another to hack on. and on steam sales a lot of peopel buy cs go on their smurf account and also to fuck around and hack on so their main doesn't get banned. games like gta and fallout you have to no reason to buy more then 1 time. most people have 2 cs go accounts.

It is a good game. It definitely has it's problems, but overall it's a pretty solid effort from Bethesda.

I think I'll have to pass and instead play Grand Tedious Abomination 5 (GTA V in case you don't get it)  instead .

It is a good game. It definitely has it's problems, but overall it's a pretty solid effort from Bethesda.

And that's not even the worst part of it. I bought Tomb Raider for like $3 us on steam . I got Watch dogs for like $10. Dying light for around $15 and Rocket League for like $10.

 

Now i only buy games when on sale

Decent Game, Horrible RPG. I mean, the choices you make don't even change dialogue....

The dialogue was a pretty big disappointment. I was also feeling optimistic about the voiced protagonist before it came out, that changed pretty quickly. I really hope they don't start making voiced protagonists as a standard. Definitely not my cup of tea when it comes to Bethesda games.

 

Still, exploring the map was loads of fun for me. I spent so much time in the city alone. It's so dense with so much to see.

Only game I ever pre-ordered, got the Collectors Edition the day is was available, so about a year before release. Only time I spent more than $30 on an individual game. I am more than satisfied.

Take probably 10-15% of that number away for people who rebuy it to run multiple accounts or because they were VAC banned. Honestly I don't understand the appeal of such a bland game but I'm not the hyper competitive type so I'm very much not the target audience. I also don't understand why people keep buying GTA5, I love GTA but 5 is a boring box and what little there is to do in it is repetitive or poorly designed and that's not even getting into the absolutely awful in game economy and lack of proper game balance.

Is this surprising anyone? I mean the game is huge in competitive scene. It's always cheap, so kids are buying the game to be like their online idols.
