What exactly is the Asus symbol?

jinroh10

I have looked at the Asus symbol numerous ways and still have not figured out what it is supposed to be. Or is it supposed to nothing but just its own thing. Please tell me your thoughts.8fba321bae4a6c30f8499844ba4aaa27.jpg

Might be a bird and an eye, but I'm just guessing.

Pretty sure it's an eye. Also a stylized "G".

Owl eyes from the side.

(based on ASUS Strix design I believe)

the rog symbol has been around for way longer than the strix branding

Subliminal messaging, perhaps. They want to, as a performance-hardware manufacturer, be recognized in relation to a game that's basically a benchmark by now.

The red is the left eye (from his perspective), the gray is the eyebrow, nose and the other eye.

from an owl ... the thread is about the ROG logo, not the Strix logo, if you can't see the difference between the 2 you need to check your glasses prescriptions.

Check the link @Josephdalepi posted???

From Asus themselves;

The ROG Logo The first version of the ROG logo was a cubed letter G, denoting the great depth and many facets of gaming. This morphed into the mask logo, as part of a major brand overhaul in 2008. It now includes the new red cloak motif, which debuted together with the Rampage II Extreme motherboard.

... no mentions of an owl anywhere!

ROG written fancily.

^This. It's the "ROG" symbol. You can clearly see the lower case "r" and capital "G". Combined in an artistic manner, they create the shape of an eye. Also, this ROG branding symbol has been around since long before the Strix branding became a thing. It's not related to the Strix branding.

i hope you realize that's just how it was "designed"

meaning of things changes over time

asus didn't just randomly decide "hey let's make our products with owls!!"

they took the "mask" of the ROG logo design and since they liked the aggressive and sharp look, they chose an animal that fit it

that's what the ROG logo is seen as now, its a mask, sure, a mask with the shape of an owl face

if asus sees an owl when they look at the ROG logo, it doesnt matter if 20 years ago it was designed as a "mask"

what matters is that they see it as an owl mask not a party mask or a cow mask
