I really hope this is a joke. Socialism doesn't really work. It goes against individual possession and people's rights, and the American values. It is the collective ownership of property. I mean, in what world does something that discourages entrepreneurship seem good? After all, what is the problem with socialism? It is that eventually, you run out of other people's money to spend.

 

You don't understand socialism. It's about equal opportunities for all despite your socioeconomic background and guaranteeing that basic human rights like access to education, housing and medical care are respected, not about forcing everyone to be equal.You're thinking of communism.

Hmm, I don't recall stating Socialism was all about forcing everyone to be equal? In fact, the post you quoted only states it goes against individual possession, people's rights and American values—and that much is very true. Though socialism and communism do share in the idea of equality in a lot of ways, socialism is just a less extreme version of communism and I don't see the good in hard core socialism being embedded into my country. I'm sure partial socialism is good (New Zealand isn't Socialist, it only has partial socialism I thought?) and works in some ways, it itself doesn't work though. And for America the way Bernie wants? Not good.

     For example, the quality of health care would plummet and costs would skyrocket, and the last time I checked in countries with heavy socialist implementations the poverty was still bad (2014 was when I checked) so it isn't like it will make the poor richer but poorer. I mean Bernie cited Denmark, Norway and Sweden as some sort of socialist utopia where everyone was happy and rich and had no problems (like some magical bandage), but that isn't even close to the truth and was even repeated by Denmark's Prime Minister (google Lars Løkke Rasmussen's on it please). I don't argue against the idea that parts of socialism is good (in theory it is great) but in reality it isn't never implemented right and it wouldn't work in America.

Well, that's a step into the right direction considering that earlier this week he wanted to shut down mosques in the US.

 

Being serious though, I have one question for you guys living in the States : how did this guy even get to where he is now? I remember hearing about him in a conversation about 3 years ago, but I wouldn't have given him any chance to even get to presidential elections back then.

Execution is everything, he should have done it through medicaid , and shouldn't have made health care mandatory, the way he did it only made insurance more expensive to the point that some people who had their insurance dropped (which was also his fault) simply said screw it and just paid the fine, also this encourages claiming more bs on your taxes as they are so confusing as a result of obama care the IRS doesn't fully understand them. 

 

In short don't follow the plan of an idiot who only listens to polls, because you'll regret it.

The problem is that no one on either side actually read the bill, they simply tacked crap on to the end of it and voted for or against it on party lines. The bill at the bear minimum should have had a second draft, as everyone knows rough drafts are not what you want to pass in for a grade.

look I dont claim to have a doctorate or any of that kind of shit but what I can tell you is that what Donald trump is doing is nothing new, he has been doing this for years,  3 years ago he siad he would run for presidency and then didnt 6 years ago he was making the same claims while insulting then running candidate hillery Clinton and barack obama.

 

Donald trump is not going anywhere with his presidency, aside from not having any political background, he has managed to make himself look  racist,xenophobic, misogynistic (this one is well known), egotistical megalomaniac, and yet people continue to give him attention.

You're funny. America's economy still exists because it is held up by war. Without war, your economy would be a grave risk. I would rather back someone willing to try and regain some modicum of dignity for it's economy.. you know, so it is not dependent on murder as much (or at all really).

Our economy is propped up by borrowing. If the government and the people actually tried to live within their means, there would be another recession. War obviously contributes to the deficit, but its not the only offender.

Sure it way look that way on the surface.  Any monetary economy is only as relevant as the resource economy it is built off of.  Minerals, water, wood, oil, people, this is what makes any economy valuable.  Without resources, money is useless.

 

US groups and government sections have been strong-arming foreign nations and companies for a long time now, in order to enhance it's economic value.

 

I am not saying the economy of USA would be destroyed if they stopped all these military practices, but things would need to be adjusted to account for that loss of access to resources. 

 

You are right, military spending saved (logistics, general arms and ammo) would help lessen the blow initially.  The lives saved by ending wars would, in part, also add to the resource economy in many ways... but I guess this is pie-in-the-sky thinking because we are just a bunch of dumb-ass monkeys running around like we are better than anything else around us.

American politics are interesting. In the UK you struggled to tell the different parties apart (not so much since Jez became Labour leader, but we'll have to wait and see how that one pans out) all three major parties crowding around the centre where most of the electorate is. The US on the other hand, left and right are moving further apart from each other, their differences becoming more intractable. Fascinating to watch from the other side of the Atlantic, probably more concerning if I lived there.

 

From the Trump perspective, after the last election wasn't one of the conclusions that the Republicans needed far more of the Hispanic vote, and Female vote to win? And Trump is seemingly on a mission to piss both those demographics off. Picking Trump for their nomination is electoral suicide surely?
