  1. I’m currently using a GTX 1060 and as much as I’d like, I can’t afford moving to a better card with the current prices. I’m curious to know how many of you are planning on a GPU upgrade. Edit - There, I added an option for not needing to upgrade, you pack of whingers. Mind you, if you didn’t need to upgrade, I wasn’t particularly interested. I wanted to know what people wanting to upgrade were going to do.
  2. Surface Pro. I got an additional 2 monitors on my desk so that makes it a 3 monitor setup... and I still run out of desktop space.
  3. Yep, that's exactly right. Nvidia think it's winning but it's only killing its own market, meanwhile AMD is giving them a helping hand by pricing people out of PC gaming. They're cool with that because gamers will move to consoles and AMD has a monopoly there.
  4. Yep. I'm out of PC gaming now. My 1060 will only last so long. Why would I buy a video card now when I could buy a new console next year for a similar price, similar performance AND with ray tracing. How bad of a joke will it be when your USD$500 GPU can't do the eye candy that a USD$500 console can? Once ray tracing hits consoles, it will go mainstream and the console makers will be pushing it in games, I can guarantee it.
  5. The internet is basically unusable without one these days. If the fuckers weren't so intrusive and persistent (not to mention malicious) maybe I wouldn't need one.
  6. Except for the spelling grammar. How's your "displine"? ?
  7. Well, corporal punishment is never necessary. It's just a lazy way of discipline. What are you going to do when your child is too old to hit and can smash your face instead? Maybe it's just me and my upbringing, but I never see hitting a kid as necessary. I would only call the cops if the child is being put under clear danger of harm and abuse. Other than that, I just think parents are being lazy/ignorant.
  8. Yeah, they are soooooo out of touch. They response was simply priceless too!
  9. The same people who have made the decisions that lead them to believe they need to fire 800 people still have their jobs and their piles of money. This is not about the survival of the business, it’s about making even more obscene amounts of money. What amazes me is how some people believe that making money is a perfectly legitimate excuse for any shitty thing that gets done by large corporations. I have no intention of giving Activision a single cent of my money ever again.
  10. I see the corporate defenders are still running strong in the LTT forums.
  11. Sure, they can run everything at 1080P but with compromises. They are hardly much better than a 1060 And they cost more (not sure about the 1160). It’s been two years and we still don’t even have 1070 performance at 1060 prices. Performance is stuck while prices shoot up.
  12. I do wish people would see beyond the marketing and buy AMD. Not because I care about AMD but for competition. Had the 480 been cheaper than the 1060, I would've bought it in a heartbeat.
  13. You know, I've always bought exclusively AMD because they gave me better value. The 1060 was the first Nvidia card I had bought in over a decade as it was way cheaper than the 480 at the time. I frankly couldn't care less who makes the card as long as I get value out of it. If you think this is about brand loyalty, I'm afraid you don't understand where I'm coming from. Also, I've had dealings with you before and you are always aggressive and accusative. Please, try to keep your arguments balanced and non-aggressive.
  14. May I point you to this official AMD tweet? AMD is trying to pass this as a gaming card. It mentions content creation in passing. Sure, we all know that Vega is purely workstation DNA, but it's also telling that they are now trying to dress it as a gaming card. This tells me that Navi will not be able to fulfil high end gaming duties.
  15. We can only hope. Although I'm not expecting it to be spectacular. A) it is due to R&D as they cannot make chips that are fast enough without using large amounts of power. If they had the tech know-how, they could create high performing chips that don't require a dedicated nuclear power generator to power it. They could not use GDDR as they had already spent the card's power budget. B) AMD is marketing it to gamers and creators. If AMD is telling people this is a card you game with, it makes it a gaming card. The pricing puts it head on with the 2080.
