a 980ti cant run  this game at 4k?  this game has the worst graphics Ive seen In years.. I mean wtf? its definitely not consoles fault.. its bethesdas fault. this game will need a year full of patches to make it run properly like every other Bethesda game lately.... they should sell their game licenses to someone else and get lost... Bethesda has become a pathetic excuse for a game dev.

Bethesda heard that gamers were not pleased with a cinematic 30fps. Instead they are now aiming for a very photographic 0 fps experience.

Haha; brilliant.

Cinematic was so yesterday, next Gen games are photographic!

Not running 4K smoothly is at least somewhat acceptable on single GPU IMO.

But I think considering the visual quality when at 1080p they should have had the game running at 120fps maxed out on 980ti. It doesn't have the graphics of Witcher 3 after all...

This just in! Fallout 4 on consoles have to run at 900p.

Honestly.. This or lower other settings. Or do this temporarly until they can find stuff to optimize it better for consoles. Sorry but 20FPS is horrible, no way could I play this on console. I will wait for my i7-4790k and overclock the balls out of my 750Ti to run at 1080p Med settings. 30-60FPS

Let me tell you something, MAX SETTINGS also 4k is a bad resolution to say a 980Ti cannot run. No single GPU can run 4k at Max settings smoothly. Lower some settings, turn AA down to 0 since at 4k it is useless, turn grass density down and bam I can almost gurantee a "smooth" 30FPS plus gameplay.

Gets away with it,...less.

PS4 has those issues with loading assets and stutters, but I wouldn't think their HDD setups are much different. (Likely still a 5400rpm drive)

The footage from hours ago from DigitalFoundry showing the framedrops on both the PS4/XB1, it totally looks like disk-thrashing interrupting gameplay. (Moreso with asset loading)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

So Nvidia posted a performance guide for Fallout 4, but it was taken down? I found a cached copy, though: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/fallout-4-graphics-performance-and-tweaking-guide

SO going by that, fully tweeked and 4k DSR (or just 4k native) NOT including 'proper' AA (MSAA or better) u'd need quad SLI 980 ti overclocked to get playable FPS.

Well, for a game that looks like it does .. not great , means its yet another typical console port. GG

It seems like the XB1 freezes out right though, the PS4 just loses a couple of frames.

Yeah, those 1second freezes, talk about infuriating...

But ya know.... "Consoles just have no problems, their awesome,... the way games are meant to be played,...... unlike those PC types" :)

Nope, we all get boned.... Welcome to Equality, where your 'top priority' games are treated just as fucked as ours..

Actually not really. Morrowind was the last Elder Scrolls that I consider fun as stand alone. Oblivion was just fucking stupid without mods: random thieves in daedric armor are ok since every single enemy and encounter is precisely leveled to you. It was so bad it was actually better to do a character with no skills you planned on using to level up skills a lot while your overall level was still 1 yet you had enough skills to kill all.

Skyrim was a tad better but again, the launch, unmodded version is mostly fucking crap. Its a bit better on the leveling of enemies but still pretty shit and they tried a bit harder on the lore and feel with the viking chants and all that nonsense but still was like a handful of the skills (Down to 3 weapon skills when in previous games we had like 10) and overall pretty shitty, again only the modding community saved the game into the legend it is today.

Fallout 3 also was quite shit at launch, the story and ending was laughably bad it was only saved by the community. See a pattern here? Fallout New Vegas was buggier but a lot better,  coincidentally the one game out of the bunch that wasnt done by Bethesda happens to be the best as a stand alone.

Only the modding community saved Skyrim? What a load of horse shit. That was an enormous game with tons of fun things to do. I used to just go climb the mountains to enjoy the views on the 360 version of the game. I thought it was a really immersive game world with the architecture, the northern lights, the alpine scenery, and the dragon fights were fun until you started maxing out your character. I loved going into the shops and hearing the various songs, and the Dovakin theme with 30 people singing together was incredible. What games exactly do you like with the way you shit all over so many games most others consider classics?

So it's GTA, Just Cause 2, hell even Minecraft. In fact most of those sandboxes have a hell of a lot more things to do than Skyrim. A Sandbox RPG has different kind of depth which is surprisingly lacking on Skyrim when compared to Oblivion and specially Morrowind.

Yes graphics are prettier, everything else is simpler, lesser, smaller. The flavour provided by the setting is better than Oblivion (Yet again, inferior to Morrowind) an that's about the only saving grace other than mods as I alluded to in my previous remarks.

I agree with you but it's not just Bethesda doing it. Just about all developers and publishers push out unfinished games and force ports where they shouldn't go. Bethesda is just following an industry standard.

I don't know why people are surprised big open world games are buggy as hell at launch. Witcher 3 crashed all the time for me early on. So did Dragon Age Inquisition. I know people love GTA V and it's indeed an amazing port, but that game was almost two years old by the time it launched on pc.
