im actually constantly in contact with the drm revival chaps. Three 935s are coming this summer as well as all of the other drm cars

The FG sounds a bit better than it did in the leak, but still sounds like a slightly re-worked MkIV. Not enough burble but similar high RPM whine.

Also, here's an onboard from the same guy. Sounds much better than in the leaked videos but still not perfect. It'll do fine, though.

Also some clips from last nights AOR race. The smallest lobby I've seen all season, with just 15 cars and a lot of regulars missing. I was the only R8 in the field and not feeling very confident with my 1:46 pace, a noticeable 4-5 seconds down (though I managed to pull some 1:40s when the track was dry, compared to 1:38 of the leaders). Derped again at the end of the race because I was frustrated, ended up closing pCars before stopping the Bandicam recording which corrupted the 63 minute recording. Oops. Working on a temp solution for that now but will have to make do with replay footage for now.

 

^ start of the race, messy as usual but considerably worse because of the night and rain. Somehow got an amazing start at the beginning but bumped into the ginetta who was going slow and got 10 points of aero right off the bat. As the lap progresses, we're all battling for position as cars are spinning (Erti in the Z4 was having a bad time) but more contact, now up to 24 points. By the 5th lap, I had 40 points and was 2 seconds off my own pace, doing 1:49s and just praying that I dont lose too much time until I make my pit stop at L18.

 

^ first full lap after my outlap, still raining but figured I'd stop early to repair the 40 points of aero damage from the previous stint. The softs only really came to life 3 laps later so at this point of the race I was driving on ice. Manageable if you dont mash the throttle, but some of the curbs and green paved areas can catch you out pretty quickly. Thankfully I didn't catch the leader as I swung the car around, one of my finest 180s if I do say so my self.

 

^ lastly a clip of me vs awNE, who is in the arguably faster car. Had my car not been damaged I would have finished P10, a place ahead of him, but since I had 12 points of aero in this clip he inevitably got the jump on me with 10 minutes to go. I understand that in this race he was faster than me but his driving was a tad too aggressive - pulling to the right to go around then cutting back to the left just barely before he cleared my bumper. If I was a steward, I would have argued he should have kept to his side of the track instead of cutting back and disturbing my aero, which reduced my braking performance in some instances (this clip was the 3rd contact made between our 2 cars) and resulted in further damage.

 

But at this point I was fed up with the race, just limping the car back to the end. Went wide after the start finish twice which gave me cut tracks, which allowed him to close the gap. I was gaining back on his car in the 2nd lap and was going to his inside on the chicane, but he for some reason kept to the middle of the track which would have forced me (and did) to the inside curb, giving me another cut track. Not faulting him as I shouldnèt have made the move but I'd argue a fair driver would have kept slightly right. Oh well.

 

Next race is at Snetterton.

Hockenheim is not an easy track. I feel like I know that track fairly well, yet there are still a number of corners and sections that I still cannot "nail" correctly and consistently. You finished the race and did so through non-ideal conditions (rain etc.) which is an accomplishment of itself.  

 

Some races go well and others don't. All part of learning and gaining experience.

You can never please all lol. They're already arguing about whether the next free car should/would be the MARC Cars V8 Focus, AMG GT3, or the AM GT12 lol.

 

Everyone's complaining about the time zones as usual, people on the eastmost portions are getting the DLC first. PSN is still lagging behind.

Not quite yet. Valve/Steam servers are delaying the patch further. They acknowledged the issue earlier in the AM and scheduled the rollout of Patch 8.0 content (livery pack, free car) at 7:11 AM EST, but the actual DLC won't be purchasable from the storefront until approx. 11AM EST (4PM GMT)

How is it? (The new track). Is it p2p or a [long] circuit? (I've been purposely avoiding watching footage of it). Can you get air?

It's exactly the same as the other two P2Ps in the game - not necessarily a one and done A-B lap. In short, it's a shorter nordshleiffe basically. A one layout circuit, if you will. (if that helps)

 

Can you get air? Yes. Multiple times. There is one jump that is as high as the California Highway one, there are a half dozen other smaller humps that match Cadwell. There's crazy elevation change throughout the 7 km lap - very similar "length" to Spa but its got a Mojave feel when it comes to modelling. It is quite wide at some points, but thats not really a downside since on a fast lap you are constantly looking for space. The racing line itself is very flowing and adheres well to the geography.
