Considering the Thrustmaster T150 or TMX. Can upgrade to the 3 pedals and add an H-pattern shifter later on. They seem to be the best options out there in that price range (~$200-250 CAD) at the moment. If anyone uses either of these, let me know what you think.

Will get by using the DFGT for now (hopefully it still works) until I can save up enough to get one. I would buy used, but knowing how much wear and tear I put on my G27 in a few years, I'm hesitant to do that...

If you're around the markham area, Simulation1 has a whole bunch of T300RS you can try. Very similar feel to the T150, and the bundle can be had for ~500 for the GT wheel and pedals. Belts give a lot smoother FFB than our logitechs and in my experience allow for better finite correction.

I was actually looking at these recently too haha

$500 is WAAAY over my price range, lol. I probably would go for a T300RS though if I had the money.

Just did some quick research and discovered you can get some relatively inexpensive adapters to use the G27 pedals and H-shifter with a Thrustmaster wheel! I think I have found my solution. :) Time to start saving...

Can get the adapters here: http://www.ricmotech.com/category_s/1840.htm

i dont know anything about the pedals since i got my fanatec CSL Elite LC before i got the T150 ... but the wheel itself is great i would say its an upgrade going from a G25/27/29/920 what ever the fuck they name the same wheel over again ... also the Thrustmaster driver software is WAAAY nicer than the old logitech profiler that i was forced to use with my DFGT and iirc Thrustmaster were selling an adapter to use the G27 pedals on their wheels not sure if they still do

i dont think that the T150 and T300 would have a similar feel but yes the T150 is smoother cause it has a belt and gears while afaik logitech use only gears

from what i know the T300 is quite a bit more powerful and is purely belt and pulley driven while the T150 has belt, pulleys and gears ... and you can feel a gear like play in the T150 ... :(

also the T300 has the quick connect wheel rims that their fancy ecosystem have T150 doesnt...

also IIRC the T300 has a higher resolution sensor for the wheel

you payed what? $300 for your G27?

300/5 years is roughly $60/yr

if you get 5 years out of the next wheel... say for $500 then that increases it to about $100/yr

I guess it all depends on how much you want to devote to that

Thanks for the input. I'm not really concerned about the ability to swap wheels and all that, as long as the wheel that's on it feels decent. Things like that, IMO, don't really help in terms of improving your lap times - not like adding a load cell for the brake, for example. However I can see if you have a wheel with improved grip, that could make a difference, but to me, that's more of a comfort/personal preference thing.

I'm leaning towards the TMX for the button layout on the wheel, primarily.

Don't want another pure gear-driven wheel again, like the G27. I could feel the play in the teeth as well as a lack of smoothness/granularity on mine. From the reviews I've read and watched, most said they found the T150/TMX to feel smoother than the G27 and basically has zero play at center. Looking at the internal structure and design of the FFB system in the T150/TMX, it seems to be quite robust and comparable to the G27. Why they use plastic gears on any FFB system makes me shake my head, but pretty much all wheels in this price range are like that.

And yes! You can get adapters for thrustmaster wheels to work with G27 pedals and H-shifter. SO glad that's possible. :D Love the pedals and shifter from the G27.

One of the biggest things I will be glad to do away with is the logitech drivers/profiler software and Windows 10 bullshit. The hours I have spent getting it to work sometimes (for no apparent reason), and the number of times it has glitched out during races - costing me positions (and a win, true story) is just ridiculous. You should just be able to install the drivers and it should just work as expected.

No, I got SUPER lucky and got my G27 on clearance when they stopped making them for $220 CAD. Looking at prices for the G29/920 just made me cry, lol.

But it's ok because I don't really want another logitech wheel anyways. I have enough with their drivers/windows 10 issues. ;)

I still race at least once a week, usually twice, with the PRD league and don't plan on stopping any time soon. Plus any extra fun night racing we do and cross-over events with RSR as well. So it's an investment for me and I need something "good". Problem is I am limited by what I can afford. For what they cost, I think the TMX is the one. I'm not going to be able to afford that even for some time yet, unfortunately.

If it were not an issue, I'd probably order a Fanatec CSL elite wheel/shifter and pedals with load cell. :P

the rim on the T150 is pretty meh  ... way better over a DFGT but i wish i could get a better one

TMX had 900 degress of rotation while T150 has 1080 ... if that is an issue for you ;)

but the TMX has more/better buttons ... :(

and the console support ... T150 - PS TMX - Xbox and both are supported by PC :D

yeah pure gear wheels are TERRIBLE ...

AFAIK the G29 has a new driver ... but im not 100% sure on that

900 vs 1080 degrees make near as no difference to me. I so rarely turn the wheel that far. I like setting the steering ratio fairly quick on most cars (9:1 or quicker), where the furthest I usually need to turn in normal racing situations is about 90 degrees either way. I'll gladly take the better button layout on the TMX over the T150 at the cost of 180 degrees max rotation. ;)

One thing I do like that's on both those wheels is the d-pad. MUCH better than having it on the shifter console. Trying to select different pit-strats while racing is hard enough. Will be nice to not have to take any hands off the wheel to do so.

See if you can get a G25/27 shifter. Just need an adapter. :)

ok the TMX does sound like the wheel for you

i meant i want a proper-ish shifter not the logitech toys

Lol, I know what you mean, but I have to say I really like the G27 shifter. Nice short-throw and decent feel. It does feel "light", but I like that.

Never been a fan of the literal "gated" shifters. I prefer the boot with a bit more freedom of movement. Just a matter of preference. ;)

I like the boot but I do wish the G27 was a bit less light.

the shifter in my miata has a good weight to it and almost a "click" (not audible but you feel it) when you go into gear. it's great.

im with @bcredeur97 on this one ...

the boot is good and the gated shifters is not my cup of tea as well ... but the G shifters feel too light for my liking ... i want it to be more realistic if you know what i mean

So this is weird. Was doing some racing in PCars 2 this evening to test out the DFGT wheel a bit more. Why or how would it be much easier to drive any car at the limit now with this wheel than it ever did with the G27?

I threw the GT3 Audi R8 around the Bathurst mountain like it was a GT86. Before, there was NO WAY I could do that with that car with the G27. Especially with the default setup. The down-hill esses is notorious for catching cars like the R8 in tank-slappers (it always did for me anyways) and when I did push too hard, that's not even where I ended up going off or spinning. o.O

Weird. All the larger hypercar manufacturers with disagree with you guys as they all pretty much exclusively use gated shifters.

this is quite interesting ... if you gave me a DFGT i wouldnt be able to do anything xD

idk why but bathurst was always quite an easy-ish track for me ... just make sure to have stiff enough front suspension so you dont lift the rear wheels off the ground while stopping on the downhil :P  ....that has happened to me more than i'd like to admit

they mostly have dualclutch boxes these days anyways ... if not a single gear or CVT

Just got the season pass. Suffice to say, I'm in love with the Astra TCR. Like many other series, it would be a blast to have the full set of cars but oh well. The LMP1H cars are a blast too. 919 feels incredibly planted and the ts050 is a hoot. R18 is a pig though. Also 919 RSR doesnt tickle my fancy in the way the GT3R does.

Really loving this TS050.

Still no idea what the final DLC is going ot be. One leak suggests a time attack R35 GTR.

Mugello is a 3.26-mile ribbon featuring 14 corners, located in Tuscany, Italy. Built in the early 1970s, its a high-speed track with the highest FIA rating, meaning that while it’s never hosted an F1 race, it could. All teams used it for testing prior to the 2012 season, however. Scuderia Ferrari owns Mugello, which explains its inclusion here.

Fiorano needs little introduction. Ferrari’s own test track acts as a gauntlet for all its cars, both road and track. Measuring in at only 1.8 miles, it too packs in 14 corners. It continues the unusual (but welcome) trend of Slightly Mad Studios including test tracks in Project CARS 2. The game launched with Mercedes’ Northern Circle test track, while the Porsche Expansion in March introduced the German marque’s Leipzig circuit.
