Runs decently at 1080p high, though Im only seeing 30fps.

Updated my testing. Runs 1080p30 Ultra preset flawlessly with a single 290, with the amd screen capture. Unlocked to 60fps, it dips to 40/45 with recording. I imagine its slightly worse overall in the water compared to on road or air but I havent tested yet.

Went back and redid the three unlocked story mode races in the beta. Still at 1080p ultra preset, in a modified R34 GTR (with the wrong sound file, but the NSX also uses this) and later the mustang. Overall the cars handle weird when you push them. The touring cars were OK and you could balance out the understeer with the throttle, but these street cars just seem to plow on forever and have a very numb snap-on oversteer or sometimes they wont transition at all.

Uploading a quick back-to-back of 25 cars and a fun mountain touge next.

I played both previous closed Beta's and the best I can say is 1. To answer you're immediate question FOR ME it ran roughly the same as the Crew 1, I have no idea if it will be further optimized.

IF you liked the Crew 1, you'll like The Crew 2. Very similar, but the physics are a lot more stable, although still weird in a way that I don't like. My biggest problem with it honestly is that to me it's more of the same. I'd buy it on sale, but not full price.

I liked the boats, they handle like... boats, but so do the cars and planes, so it kind of just fits. The wakes of other boats effecting yours I could see getting irritating, but I think it's a cool effect. I did NOT like the planes. I'm a bit into planes, and the "stunt" planes in this feel like 747s. I'm also a huge loser and play with a steering wheel, so the sudden jump cut to planes is really annoying.

As to the map, they added more circuits for the circuit class, yet because of the physics they're all SUPER wide. It looks to be bigger, but I didn't notice much new stuff spread throughout minus the tracks. There's a bunch of rivers added in all over for the boat racing.

the UI could've been changed, but it was very bizarre when I used it, hard to figure out, and most people couldn't figure out how to properly quit. Had the same poor UI during the second beta test a few months later.

Also, as a slight annoyance, for optimization purposes, the mirrors don't work. I think it's a cheap excuse on console, and ridiculous on PC. I know it's open world, but most other racing games manage to have functioning mirrors.

It should be an option to have actual mirrors on PC, and preferably a resolution scaler.

@JZStudios

funny enough i managed to get into the closed beta on the first day. the game performs okay, but could be better. the graphics look a lot like crew 1

i found cars to handle floaty. i noticed that you can adjust car setup and driving aids but most of it is locked

Yeah, there's some new features and "ooh's" and "ah's" but not enough for me to throw money at it.

GPS is still terrible, but otherwise its a lot more fun than FH3 was for exploring an open world. Night could use a bit of tweaking, as headlights dont do much in the way of showing you the way a la ugandan knuckles.

Also I despise most of the central US.

So i picked up F1 2017 this week for £9.99, i did 60 laps around Canada on stream before the GP, got down to 1.17.5, not the fastest but still learning how to go fast in these cars, Anyway i was surprise at how good this F1 game feels, last years instantly made me want to boot up AC and play that, this one doesn't, not sure if there is a lot of difference but 2017 just feels pretty good to drive.

forza horizon 4 - takes place in britain; emphasis on seasons

I don't know how I feel about taking place in the UK.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a few things spring to my mind...

1. Britain is boring.

2. It's 90% essentially empty farmland.

3. I've seen hills, but other than some rocky outcrops, no mountains which I DESPERATELY want. FH1 is the only one that has one.

4. I suppose Scotland has very pretty vistas, but I'm not sure it's well known for the best driving roads.

5. I can only assume Ireland or Isle of Mann will be DLC. Mann could be neat, not represented enough, who cares about Ireland.

The seasons seem cool, but did the physics look more arcade than usual to anyone else?

Also... I think if I wanted vast empty space with pretty vistas, plenty of scenery changes, and mountains to an extent, I'd go Iceland.

It would be awesome if they did New Zealand, Honestly, Northisland is prob small enough to do a full scaled version of it, including the 4 Racetracks, drift tracks and WRC stages. seriously some of the mountain roads I drive here daily are just insane, also they do banked corners here to help with rain runoff.

dis be my opinion on the things you mentioned :D

1. i feel like most people say this and when the game comes out its gonna be completely amazing, just to prove people wrong xD

2. and small twisty roads.... UK rally stages are some of the most entertaining ones in Dirt Rally and Dirt 4

3. more mountains than my country. and sometimes flat land can be more fun .... top speed testing

4. According to Top Gear when the 3 dummies were still hosts ... Scotland had quite good twisty roads

5. i hope isle of man will be there

i do like the seasons thing, could be quite cool

the physics in forza games always seemed really arcade like to me, but i have not played some of the early ones so i cant tell that

if i wanted that, it be set in Hawaii or Ibiza.... Test Drive Unlimited 2

Being set in the Northern UK it should have some very nice driving roads with some very nice scenery.

From what I've seen the map already looks more interesting than Horizon 3s bland interpretation of Australia

1. I meant Britain the real place. Yes, sure again it's pretty with green farmland, but farms and sheep aren't exactly exciting.

2. I'm very aware of Dirt Rally and D4, I'm a bit "favored" (sort of) on their forums, but Forza's never had REAL rally roads, much less anything like in either of those. It's not impossible, but it would be a big change and I doubt it would really be the case. I've wanted rally in Horizon since the first, and it's just never really been there.

3. Top speed testing in video game format I fin INCREDIBLY boring. There's also a differentiation between mountains and hills.

4. That might be the case, but they also kept going all over the world and finding better driving roads, which has been lacking in 2 and 3. 2 at least had the coastline road, but that was about it.

5. Agreed, would be cool. Unlikely to be NZ though, if they did that it should've been the FH3 expansion instead of whatever the hell Blizzard Mountain was supposed to be.

It was always a decent mix of realism and arcade, the cars behaved in a way you'd expect and reacted to your setup changes in predictable ways, unlike a pure arcade or the horrendous Crew.
