I was about to order the 22 ammo when I was hit with a high shipping cost. Seems they have 3 (so far) distributors in the list so each adds $5 to shipping cost. I had to revise my list to cut it down so I knocked off $8 for these:

 

2 x CCI 22 LR Velocitor 40 grain CPHP

2 x Federal 22 LR Lightning 40 grain LRN

2 x Winchester 22 LR Wildcats 40 grain LRN

2 x Winchester 22 LR SuperX HV 40 grain LRN

2 x Hornady 22 WMR Critical Defense 45 grain FTX

 

All ordered and in shipment. Now I have SD rounds in 22 LR and WMR plus 300 rounds for plinking. That'll be a good start. Can't wait to go shooting.

Went to Walmart today to get some clothes and thought I'd stop by the ammo counter. Came home with a 500 rnd box of Remington 22 LR Thunderbolt HV 40 grain for $15. Less than 3 cents a round. Not bad.

Range report.

 

Assembled my lightweight AR build and took it to the range.

I only put about 40 rounds through it to test that it functioned and a rough accuracy test, no problems.

It still needs a muzzle device (think I'll just go with a standard A2 cage as I like how they look), a charging handle (stole one off my S&W AR to use on this temporarily) and some sort of optic (not sure if I want to stick with a red dot or get a  longer range scope).

Using the very scientific method of standing on my bathroom scale alone and then standing on the scale holding the rifle, I have determined that it weighs about 5.2 pounds in its current configuration.

 

 

 

Next I took my Bersa Thunder 380 Plus to the range as well.

The Bersa didn't do so well but I am pretty confident it is my fault and not the gun's fault.

I have 6 malfunctions and the first 3 were 100% my fault as my left thumb was firmly resting on the slide causing the pistol to not go fully into battery.

After I adjusted my grip I had 3 occasions where the slide locked back while there were still rounds in the mag.

Examining my grip again I noticed that my right thumb would get very close to the slide stop, close enough that it would touch the bottom of the slide stop if I squeezed my left hand a little.

I'll take it to the range again in a week or two and be more mindful of my grip, I also got another mag in the mail the other day to try and rule out any mag related issues.

I'm too use to shooting full sized pistols where there is plenty of room to put my thumbs wherever I want without interfering with any components of the pistol.

Oh, also I'm looking for suggestions on how to "ruin" my S&W AR.

I'm the type of person that each of my firearms needs to be unique from every other firearm I own, be it calibur, action, form factor ect.

Since I now have 2 ARs I either need to do something to make my S&W unique when compared to my new AR or I'll  sell it.

 

I want to paint it some ridiculous paint scheme but I don't know what theme I should do.

I've seen many Hello Kitty and Barbie ARs already, though I'm not against doing one myself, but I want to paint it in a stupid theme that not so many people have done already.

 

My front runners so far are Reese orange with appropriate decals, Spongebob yellow with decals, or a multi color neon.

Caliber change and make it an "FDE" rifle a la FN's Scar shit stain paint scheme.

I went into the shop planning to snag a shockwave but they didn’t have any, almost bought a stoeger coach gun because it was rad as hell, but this 500 ati scorpion was just too cool to ignore for $480

So I have a new project I want to do, involving a 10/22, a tapco stock, some white and red spray paint, and a clamp of some sort.

 

 

I'm going to try and make a 10/22 look as close to this as I can.  I think I could pull it off, somewhat.  The tapco stock has front top rails, and I can cut part of it off to fit the aesthetic better.  I won't bother with the thank part, just leave the buttstock there.  Obviously some creative liberties would be had.  

 

But yeah, I'd like to try and model a 10/22 to look like a Kensa Charger from Splatoon 2.

I've considered several times to get my P2000 painted to look like this (except for the silver base plate on the mag):

I just like the green look for some reason.  Not sure how feasible that is though, considering I like to use it as one of my carry guns.

That looks really cool!  And as far as feasible.  As long as it's concealed, does it matter what color it is?

I'm just thinking it might be harder to conceal, because of the color.  If my shirt rides up a little, a black gun tends to blend in a little better against my belt than a bright green one.
