How does the AR-15 compare to the AK-47? I shot that.

I also shot simulation M16, and have an airsoft GBB m16.

More accurate, sharper recoil impulse.

But my AR15s are M4 style carbines. I want to build an M16 style rifle. Technically, 2, a 20" 5.56 and a 24" 6.5 Grendel.

Is the sharper increase fun?
I love how when shooting an AK you can feel the bolt sliding back and everything.

On my personal that was gifted to me, not really because it tends to rise.

On my father's, it is because the rifle shoots flatter.

Upper vise block, Roll pin starters, and a lapper for recievers.

Already have an armorer's wrench and lower vise block.

Personally I hate the ones that clamp to the upper, securing from the locking lugs is a far superior system in my experience. Even the simply Magpul BEV block works fairly well if you put the locking pin in.

Roll pin punches are a necessity for any decent tool kit, so that's cool.

I've used my Lapping tool a few times, and have had good success with them.

I actually kinda need the upper vise to install the barrel itself, plus I can't see any reason why the reaction rod is better, looks like the worse system in theory to me.

I'm going to test them against vise grips, see which works better.

Transfering the torque load to the weakest portion of the firearm (upper receiver) is generally a poor idea. Locking against the locking lugs is a far better plan. I've installed many barrels with reaction rods and BEV blocks, what's the reason you cant do the same?

As far as I can see, torque is hitting the reciever regardless, with a block, it's being transfered over a larger area.

Also, I can buy another mil-spec upper for $50, the CHEAPish 24" Grendel Barrel I'm building with is $150, on sale right now.

Excellent, they're a ton of fun!

The lower is the trickiest part, and even then the front detent pin is really the only thing you have to take a little care of. Those detent pins like to launch themselves across rooms.

With a reaction rod only the threads see any forces, the rest of the receiver is just along for the ride. With a upper vise block, the upper can flex a bit and take some of the torque which makes for a less consistent torque on the barrel nut. It's not an enormous deal, people assemble with them all the time, but not the ideal situation.

Are you using a clamp or set screw gas block? If you're using a set screw type, make sure you dimple the barrel so it cant rotate.

Haven't decided yet. Only thing I'm sure of is that I want an adjustable block.

I've gotten to the point where SLR Rifleworks is now the only adjustable gas block I use. I've had a few others that liked to adjust themselves. SLR is not cheap, but they make really really good stuff.

I'm thinking of going Odin Works, particularly since they're based in Idaho.

I considered getting one of these recently.  I ended up going with the H&K P2000 I posted the pic of earlier, but I may yet consider this for in the future.
