Man looking for lost cellphone executed by roller coaster

ANDUSKY, Ohio — A Cedar Point guest died after being struck by the Raptor roller coaster around 5 p.m. ET Thursday.

 
The Eric County coroner says a man in his mid-40s entered a restricted, fenced area at the park to look for a lost cellphone and was struck and killed by the coaster.
 
He hasn’t been identified.
 
The investigation is being handled by Cedar Point police and the Sandusky Police Department.
 
 
Cedar Point, which bills itself as the "roller coaster capital of the world," operates 17 coasters, from the mild Wilderness Run for children accompanied by an adult to the new Rougarou stand-up coaster. The Raptor is listed as an "aggresive thrill" ride, which has a 54-inch height requirement. The ride lasts 2 minutes and travels up to 57 mph, according to the Cedar Point website.
 
Cedar Point sits roughly halfway between Toledo to the west and Cleveland to the east.

The raptor is a bad ass ride. I just couldn't imagine being in the seat that nailed the guy and killed him.

I see a lot of people pulled over on the shoulder of the highway I drive on everyday just throw their doors open in front of traffic, and even step out in front of traffic. Not sure what compels them...
