Experiences with non-techies

Maybe SSDs were more expensive in 2013? I really dont know, because i was just a wee little techling.

I don't think so... Not as much as a 1 TB HDD. In fact a 128 GB SDD would probably be cheaper, and for a woman, that's all she'd need.

My mom's filled up half of her ~500gb main drive...

I had a non-techie moment and killed a 2.5" HDD... granted the 2.5" IDE is not keyed (unlike the 3.5" IDE)... and I was working on a board with very few markers...

How many gallons of alcohol do you think we need for it?

Not much. However, the socket is probably gunked up too.

i think you mean byte sexist

i'm not being sexist. Women just tend not to use PCs that much, or when they do, they use it for banking and PDF documents. Which don't take up that much space.

(The other day)

Parents: gmaesplayer, come over here! Dad's laptop stopped working!

Me: Ok, can I see it?

Parents: Sure, just fix it.

Me: *Turns on computer to see something that said "RAM DISK FAILURE"*

Me: *Takes out RAM and puts it back in*

Laptop: *Works*

Parents: *Hands me $50* Wow, that was crazy? How did you know to do that?

Me: *Facepalm*

My parents are rather tech savvy, so I never get paid for tech support.

A lot of men do that too. Both men and women use their computers for a wide variety of things.

No one tech savvy in my family, except my brother a lil' bit. I enjoy the perks of being resident techie. (AKA $$$$$)

I have the perfect balance of tech savvy parents - know enough to get along fine, but don't know enough to mess things up.

I do have my twin @Jambls though.

Same... And I'd never charge for fixing a relative's PC. And my dad's friends from work make computer chips, engine computing parts, etc xD....

Excuse me sir, I think you have some CPU on your thermal paste. :D

I would bet that it could be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and still work. Assuming that owner didn't do stupid shit with it. (Which he probably did, worth a shot though)

Yeah everyone recommended to soak it in a bowl of isopropyl alcohol and hope for the best.

When They think they can have as many CPUs as they want in one system.

if you buy a workstation/server mobo you can have more than 1 cpu.

Still doesn't mean you can have an infinite number of them.

How much storage someone needs on their PC has nothing to do with the user being a man or woman. It all has to do with type of usage and varies in each case scenario.

Still doesnt mean you can have an infinite number of them.

it's still more than the usual 1 that almost everyone has.

But yeah, the only way to have more is a supercomputer and even that is limited.

You could do some node computing for unlimited cpus.

eventually you'd be limited by your network
