Was it charging, or did it spontaneously combust? We must know if it was one of the newer ones or one of the older ones.

Sounds like a certain company I heard of that will remain nameless.  They budgeted $100 million to re-implement SAP.  However, in typical fashion for them, they spent twice as much, were 6 months late and only managed to install like 1/3 of the planned functionality.  There were even rumours they may have spent 4x more, not just 2x...

Oh yeah, and in the end they called it a great success xD

I also probably should take more care of my headphones which some guy in a car shop gave for free. Pretty good quality, and only 5,000 copies (in the world, by the way)

Microsoft links suck

Did a clean Win7 install. Open up IE, it says browser is out of date, download latest version. So I clicked on it, expecting to take me to the IE 11 download link for Win7. Took me to their top 10 download link, and ranking at #1 was some KB patch for IE10.

Vista is outdated, but I still have to mentioned it. When downloading the latest version of IE, it grabs the opposite version of what your platform is running. Running Vista 64bit, MS goes and downloads IE9 32bit and then it gives error about not being to install. It does the opposite, when you run Vista 32bit, it grabs the 64bit version of IE and again gives the same error.

Oh god...  So we had a surge protector's plug in our computer lab "blow up" but was still in the wall and sending electricity. It had the copper wire exposed, and everything. It even burt a student's jacket. The imbecile teachers and technician at my school decided "Yeah it's fine. It's not like it's going to set fire to all these papers, and wood, and metal". Yep. It set fire to all those papers, and wood, and metal and we had the fire department come to our school and everything, and we were all evacuated. How do you become a technician and let something like THAT happen?! Also, when the teacher was calling for the technician, she told him that "a fuse blew" xD I don't think she knows what a fuse is lol

So I work at The Computer Store, and they have a help desk they contract out to one of the local internet providers.  Basically, we are the tech support for SRT.

Anyways, I'm at work one day and I get a call.  I answer it, and think of the stereotypical smart-ass know it all teenager.  That's who answers.

Anyways, I answer the phone.

Me: "Hello, this is kaiju_wars with SRT Internet Help Desk, how can I help you this evening?"

Customer: "Yes, this is xxxxxx-xxxxxxxx and my internet isn't working.  I need help with it."
Me: "Alright sir, what exactly is happening, did it just start, what lights are on on the modem?"

Customer: "It's my internet, not the modem, I know what I'm doing, I know about this tech stuff."

Anyways, I had him restart the modem (you'll be surprised how much a simple power cycle of a modem, PC, or even your phone can fix something.  Something I learned in college, for all those, "did you restart it" smartasses.)

That didn't work.  I checked the session, he had one.  I checked line stats, he had internet going through.  Okay.  Had him power down again and check and reseat cables.  Make sure none of the ports or cables going into the modem were damaged, nothing.

Still not working.  I decided to get into his modem.  Looks like he might of hit the WiFi button.  I have him hit the button again on his modem.  Oh look, WLAN light comes on, still no internet.  I had him on hold while I was in the modem and after I had him hit the WiFi button, so I could quickly check line stats and see what my Network Operations wanted me to do.  (I started there only three weeks ago).

They recommend a factory reset of the modem, and I'll have to go back in and reprogram it.
I get the kid off of hold:
Me: "Okay sir, I woul-"

Customer: "Hey my internet started working, let me look at the router!"
Me: "Sir, it started working again?"
Customer: "Oh... it went out again.  Everything shut off."
Me: "What happened?"
Customer: "Oh, my internet started working so I decided to shake my router."

Me: "......You decided to... physically... shake your modem?"

Yeah kid, you sure, "know about this tech stuff."  Fucking hell.  Ends up that really forced it to need a factory reset.

So this idiot decided to break their modem (or was it the wifi router?) by shaking it after it somehow started working?    Which then required a factory reset to fix..    That's painful to think about.  lol

No, idk why I put metal in there. I texted my brother about it earlier, and just copy pasted it here.

I'm the go-to IT nerd in my school year, and a teacher asked me to set up this wireless pointer thing. Little did they know that due to the administrator set up with the school network, I couldn't install drivers or anything. I've also had OCR Computing teachers perpetuating the MHz myth, and doubling the cores always doubling the speed, but I guess that's because I know much more than I really should for GCSE level.

What's the MHz myth?

Recently one of my friends wants to replace his PC since it can't do jack anymore. He has a budget of $400 I suggest either building s new one or getting a decent used PC with a little older hardware and upgrade the PSU if needed and add a decent GPU.  Now he is bent on just buying a $400 PC off of eBay that olds some quad core AMD apu that he won't specify, r7-250, 16gb of ram and 2 to of storage. I told him he can get something better than that but he is like, I have seen the benchmarks and it does really well! It can max out witcher 3 and such. I asked him at what resolution and he won't specify and goes on to everyone acting like he knows all the hardware in the world when he just looked at a screen shot of witcher 3 with a clearly photoshopped or bullshitted FPS counter at one of the conners.

Basicallt when I asked my other friends about what to do and we came to a agreement that if I can't get through to that friend of mine, then they can't.

also the last time I talked to him he only saw CPUs as more cores with higher clocks means it's better. So in short words, he believes that a fx 9590 is better than a i7-5960x because it's clocks are higher with the same number of cores
