Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 Ti with Full GM200 Core Ready – Planned for September Launch

A report from the sweclockers.com states that the Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 ‘Ti’ Graphic Processor is ready for launch. The 980 Ti is a card that would be the successor of the GTX 980.
 

According to the report, the Geforce GTX 980 Ti has been completed – which means AIB seeding will begin shortly. It also means that Nvidia must be aware that AMD flagship is very close to launch, something that will happen either at Computex, or shortly before. Should AMD launch a GPU that offers serious competition to the GTX 980 than the ‘Ti’ older brother will step to turn the tides back in Nvidia’s favor. AMD’s market share has been on a relatively alarming trend this year and the launch of the Fiji XT GPU could make or break it for the red duo-pole.

 

 

 
The launch date remains approximately September of this month. The GTX 980 Ti will supposedly have the complete 3072 cores of the GTX TITAN X but with the memory buffer cut to 6GB from 12GB and maybe higher clocks.

Yeah, but the price is preliminary, plus this is a September lauch so it makes sense the price would go down over time.

So this is going to be a lot like with the 780ti and the first Titan, where the 780ti would perform almost identical for significantly less.

well, the titan x isnt for gamers. that would be for developers. then 980 ti would be for gamers. back like how  the titan line up was supposed to be.

Not quite. The original Titan did still have double precision on its side, as well as making more sense for early 4K adopters. 

 

For this, it will make the Titan X pretty much completely obsolete.

They aren't. The people their trying to get to buy their 980ti aren't the people that would even consider buying a Titan X. Though maybe some of them would, but generally speaking.. I think they know what they're doing.

Considering what they've got under their sleeve, I'd say they should give nvidia a run for their money, well, it's not like amd was ever really that far behind in terms of performance in the graphics card market. Hell, the most powerful single-card gpu is still an amd card. (Note i said single card, not single core, the titan x is the fastest single-core, but the 295 is still just that little bit faster.)

If I bought a Titan X for a single 4k display I'd be pissed right now, this is a much better option imo.
