Next-gen Barbie doll listens to your kids' conversations and "Adapts"

The new 'Hello Barbie' doll is a smart Barbie, has Wi-Fi capabilities and will record conversations to create a 'unique relationship' with your child
 

Hello Barbie will record your kids' conversations where it sends it to researchers, securing it in their 'secure' database, where researchers will analyze the conversations with your child. Mattel says that this will enable the new Hello Barbie to become more complex over time, where it offers two-way dialogue, speech recognition, and more.

 

 

The dollmaker says that this will allow Hello Barbie to form a "unique relationship" with children, as Hello Barbie will be able to tell jokes, listen, learn and adapt to situations. Because of its Wi-Fi Internet capabilities, it will also be capable of being updated with new software constantly, too. But as for an always-listening Barbie doll in kids bedrooms? I don't know if I like the idea of that.

With the amount of barbies being sold (I'm guesstimating here) i won't be surprised if at least some inappropriate jokes are told.

 

I do hope frankie boyle gets a barbie. That will be the only one with a sense of humor made of pure dark matter.

Hell no!!! if i had a kid anything i would not get them something like this. I don't care that it listens and adapts but the fact that it connects to the internet and could possibly be sending that info to a "Third party" like the Samsing Smart TVs. I also don't thinke toys need to be 'wifi enabled'. I had no 'wifi' toys growing up unless an Xbox or PC counts. I would never buy my kids toy that has wifi. This should be illegal but 'Murica. Also i wonder how easy this would be to hack and take control of, which could be bad.
