Sony starts selling $160 64GB Micro SD card

aaguilar

Sony is going to sell a new 64GB micro SD card for premium audio lovers...

They claim the card is design to produce less electrical noise.

Sony expects that true audio lovers purchase this card that is 5 times the price than a normal sony micro sd.

There is not much to say about this other than do not buy it.

Less electrical noise. On a digital medium. GG WP Sony. And we wonder why they are losing so much money...

Seems like a rip off, just like their PS Vita Micro SD cards (which are just like micro SD cards, but proprietary)

Good old snake oil to enthusiasts who claim to know better and can tell the difference but really are idiots who deserve to have their money taken from them. This goes up there with 1000 dollar HDMI cables or 10000 dollar audio cables.

Ugh. Same nonsense as their thankfully dead memory cards that were also overpriced. Sony never learns. No wonder they are having so much troubles on the business side of things.

So this new premium 64gb costs $160 and normal 64gb costs $28? :D

Put "Dr. Dre Beats" logo on it and sell it for $320. That profit :o

Reposting..

The last cheap SD card I've used didn't add any additional noise to my sound files, at all. Sony, you're no more an audiophile brand than Bose or Skullcandy.

Why would a real audiophil need a dig. memory card? I think that they use more analog stuffs as they reproduce music better.

This is one thing I don't get, how does this not qualify as false advertisement? As a digital interface 1's and 0's are 1's and 0's. you can make a super 1 that someone means more then a standard 1 in binary

They aren't aiming these at us.

They are aimed at the idiots in the communities elsewhere who believe in the "high res" shit, ala Pono, etc.

Good trolling Sony.

10000 dollar audio cables.

Cables actually make a difference, it's negligible, but it's there. (Even though I don't hear a damn difference, but looking at it on paper, the physics behind it is true)

You smell that? Yeah, it... smells like bull

No, it's not April, and no this is not a joke, and Sony is making money on this.

Don't you hate it when your phone blares in your ear? Phone or any other device beginning to bludgeon your ears with palpable levels of noise, all due to one component? Don't worry, because Sony has a solution.

Sony's new line of "Premium Sound" MicroSD XC cards solves those issues by incorporating new technology that claims to produce less audible sound from the Sd Card itself. Let it also be known that sony hopes to cater to audiophiles with this release, presumably to go along with their $1,200 Walkman release at CES.

It seems that since the hackings that took place at Sony, they just can't stop making stupid mistakes.

The company that introduced the $1,200 Walkman at CES last month is now preparing to release its perfect companion: a 64GB microSD card engineered for better sound quality. It's difficult to fathom how the transfer of digital information could ever be made more silent, but Sony's internal measurements have shown its audiophile-friendly memory card producing less electrical noise when reading data.
As bullish as Sony appears to be about the benefits of high-resolution audio, the company itself admits that it's not sure there'll be a market for this particular card. The Wall Street Journal cites a Sony spokesperson as saying, "We aren’t that sure about the product’s potential demand, but we thought some among people who are committed to great sound quality would want it."

1 of the many reasons why they are going under, i never even knew flash devices made sounds.

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.
