Donates a lot to charity, plays indies a lot to promote their presence and bringing more indie games with potential big corporation bullshit and collaborates (Or at least used to) with smaller youtubers increasing their presence and giving them a better chance to grow.

Although PewDiePie is right in that it is free exposure. It is Nintendo's property and if they feel this is the direction they want to go to then there has to be reasons why.

Because Nintendo is ass backwards on all things related to the online age. And its not because they are a Japanese company as many has suggested before. They are just fucking useless at it because they seem to forget they can HIRE outside talent to help, like Sony and MS did. They're so behind the curve its just sad for their consumers and fans that they have to put up with such an archaic and stubborn company. 

Also, to the "experts" in this thread who want to trash on PewDiePie; way to miss the point. The man himself is smart. Smarter than 99% of you (including me). He found an idea, stuck with it, and gets to do something he enjoys AND make bank. His character that he plays to get views ≠ the person he actually is. I would've figured some people could differentiate between that. His character is what the kids like. His channel isn't even marketed towards anyone "mature". Its for kids. Stop being so butthurt that he gets success by marketing to a very specific demographic.

This is great to hear that such a big YouTuber such as Pewdiepie is calling Nintendo out on this. I wish he continued to disable comments on his YouTube video, but sadly Google is still dragging their feet on that front.

Really? No reason to complain? There have been thousands of people complaining about this, but look what gets social/media attention. Like it or not, Pewdiepie is one of the few persons out there that can blatantly call out a company and have direct action taken against them on multiple fronts.

He's from Sweden, legal age of consent IIRC is 15 years old. And even if he was in the U.S. at the time of that video, 17/18 is legal age of consent in nearly all states, so anywhere from sevenTEEN to nineTEEN would be legal for him to watch in the U.S. and would fall under the "Teen" tag.

The age of consent and the age of actors/actresses in porn are not the same though. I can legal go and have sex with however many 15 year olds I want, but if a 17 year old willingly sends me nude picture of her then both of us could become registered sex offenders for producing and possessing child pornography (and yes, lots of people have become registered sex offenders because they have been "sexting" each other).

 

You are totally right about 18 and 19 being completely legal and still in the teenager range though. I would be surprised if a lot of the "teen" videos on porn sites are over 20 either. It seems like anyone who has fairly smooth skin and little to none wrinkles are considered teens on porn sites.

Actually it's not completly stupid that Nintendo wants to control the content made by, at least, professional content creators. For several reasons, like brand image control and measure the returns of having the content made with their games. Imagine if Pew has a meltdown while playing Pokemon and starts to act in a unproper way for the target audience of the game... Nintento doesn't want that. They don't need that.

Like they say: any press is good press... unless something goes wrong.

So I belive more conservative companys like to control every aspect of their communications. I don't share this vision for gaming, but it will depend on the industry.

 

Either way we don't know the long term strategy of Nintendo, so in the current moment it might seem like something really stupid... in the future who knows? Maybe they will deploy a new program for content creators.

Well I completly agree with you, but on the other hand I would point in other direction... the platform that allows for such blunt control that compromises freedom of speech - witch is Youtube.

Nintendo is just using the available tools.
