Exhibit A on why Sony loses money.

They do shit like this that makes no goddamn sense.

Please. You're better off grabbing a FiiO or Kowon player at a fraction of that and still have audio that slaps Apple around.

As far as I know, anyone who is willing to spend this are crazy audiophiles where FLAC just won't work for them. Pretty painful for anyone new to start, but to the veterans, it is just another small fraction of money that they are about to spend into their audio products.

What's wrong with FLAC? I thought that codec is lossless.

See, you just grazed right over the actual purpose of the device.

It has a really nice AMP in it. (Portable ones cost $300-$3000)

Runs Android so you can play anything with any App you want.

Plays all the codecs and all the files

Has tons of storage

Supports audio signals up to 120KHz.

No other product can come close. At all. And it is portable!

You guys have to understand that it only runs Android because it is more flexible, this is not a media consumption device.

I would expect this to have a amazing AMP/DAC combo include a pair of amazing headphones support for all codecs and a proper marketplace for Flacs. $1200? Are you on crack sony?

this is why sony is in loss........ they should really concentrate on making mainstream stuff

"Mainstream" isn't popular with hipsters. Hipsters pay lots of money to be different. (Apple)

I wouldn't even consider buying one, but damn, the design is absolutely gorgeous.

As an audiophile, I resent that comment. The only expensive audio equipment I have consists of a $300 pair of Sennheiser's best (two years ago anyway), and a $500 H4 recording device which i use to reflect on voice lessons and take audio notes in class in case I miss something. I still can tell the difference between most codecs in listening, though dedicated sound cards are a major waste these days.

I actually got to operate, listen and play with it. The build quality is outstanding, solid feel, well placed buttons. Sound quality was limited to the headsets they had. I was listening on Sony bluetooh headset, using an expanding sound tech.

If it sounds good and was $150 I'd buy it

Being high-end and playing flawless quality files, u are being too cheap. This is meant to be better than ipods. Therefore 300 dollars should be the price point not unrealistic 12 hundred bucks...
