Tribler is making BitTorrent anonymous and impossible to shut down

Source: https://torrentfreak.com/bittorrent-anonymous-and-impossible-to-shut-down-141218/

Researchers at Delft University of Technology have been working on a solution to the issue of anonymity on the BitTorrent network. Today they have finally solved the puzzle. Introducing Tribler - a BitTorrent client that keeps your anonymous and it's impossible to shut down.

How is this possible? Well, first of all Tribler doesn't rely on central servers. There's a built in search functions that searches for torrents from users rather than from a server, such as the now defunct Pirate Bay. Secondly, when you use Tribler, you have the option to use a custom-built in TOR network. So now you can share your files without showing your IP address to the rest of the world.

This gif shows how you can balance your speeds and anonymity. You can have more speed but with less anonymity, or be more anonymous and have your speeds be reduced. Play around with it and see what works best for you.

Some other features include video streaming from a torrent, channels of torrents for you to "like" and follow, and if a tracker goes offline, you will continue to download the file with the aid of other users. Interestingly enough, Tribler downloads increased by 30% when The Pirate Bay was shut down.

If you're interested, you can download Tribler here: http://www.tribler.org/

Oh, and better yes, it's an open source project, so you can view all of the source code on GitHub: https://github.com/Tribler/tribler

i had tribler for months now but DAMN they made it anonymous !

i wonder if its using TCP or UDP

edit

We have implemented the main parts of the Tor wire protocol within Tribler. Instead of the TCP protocol that Tor uses we we use the UDP protocol, in order to be able to do NAT traversal.

nmv is fake

It is not fake, malware infected or something, .cr is an official TPB proxy (Costa Rica) and is rumored to be the extension for the new main site in the future but they're taking their time on getting the site back up to make it not be whatever some of the creators thought was bad about it before, the only thing I thought was annoying was all the almost graphic (Linus said they were graphic during a Wan show topic) gif. advertisements for porn and quick fuck social networks but adblocker fixes that instantly.

For now just use a different site or the resurrection by the isohunt team - oldpiratebay - with the .org extension.

I run my browser through NSA ports to make their illegal jobs easier. :P
If it's not broken, take it apart and fix it.
