Target Australia Removes GTA V from shelves.

Schoolofmonkey

LMAO @ that change.org post. What a fucking joke. They need to stop being a bunch of pussies.

They go on and talk about how sexual harassment has affected them and how Youtube videos of the game 'support' it.

Here's a solution: don't fucking play the game and don't watch the videos about it.

"Games like this are grooming yet another generation of boys to tolerate violence against women."

Bullshit. It's been proven time and time again that games don't make people violent.

http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/nov/10/video-games-violent-study-finds

I wrote a paper on this shit for uni, and dayum son, it was a blast writing it.

It was as if my university gave me the go-to to cut the feminazi bullshit to pieces.

Also, this idea of new media (in this case video games) = THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!1111!!!!1!!!! has been around since the introduction of "books" - let's take a look at Romeo and Juliet, a play that's commonly associated with romance, etc.

Just for a second, think about what R&J actually had in it. R&J is a book about how a guy well into his 20s wants to have sex with a girl who is no older than 14.... yeah, that just ruined it for a whole bunch of people.

But I digress, this ideology, along side the increasing (in popularity) idea of "I'm a gurl gaem dev so halp, but I ceeeeebs making a proper gaem and showing my SKILL, I'd rather mooch off feminazis" is disgusting.

If you know anyone who holds such mentality or come across it, cut those fuckers down (I've already done it at uni. LET THE CULLING BEGIN)

First of all, this is beyond stupid. Secondly, who cares, noone buys games from target anyway in AUS. Its usually EB games, JB-Hi-Fi or online

In my psychology and sociology classes we looked at an experiment done to learn about how games impact our behavior. I don't even feel compelled to explain how the experiment was set up, because it's reasoning was complete bullshit. Great thing that both of my teachers knew this.

The Internet is the first thing that humanity has built that humanity doesn't understand, the largest experiment in anarchy that we have ever had.

Target's customers are ignorant middle aged women that bought an R rated game for their 11 year old sons and then complained it was too mature so should be removed from the store they buy their $5 clothes at.

That is actually true. I have mended the sound and games area at my store a few times and about 3/5 times the people buying games were middle aged women buying for their kids. That and they come in asking for refunds on ps3s because they think the AV cable is broken. Lucky for me I'm only casual.

wtf, it's a game..... people die.... lots of violence.... it's not real

and it doesn't promote violence against women any more than men, in fact I think hardly anyone you HAVE TO KILL to finish the game are women. Some YouTuber punching a hooker in-game IS NOT the game, its story, the publisher, or dev team promoting violent acts to women.

I run my browser through NSA ports to make their illegal jobs easier. :P
If it's not broken, take it apart and fix it.

I love how they only mention killing women, this was probably started by some desperate "feminist" in need of attention.

Caroline Elizabeth Sarah Norton (22 March 1808 – 15 June 1877) (England)

Her husband was brutally beating her up, because he hated cleverness in a woman. One time, he knocked her to the floor and kicked her. She was pregnant, she lost the baby.

Back then, the law allowed men to beat their wives ("with a stick, not thicker than his thumb"). What he was doing was not ok though, even by those laws. What was she to do? Go to court? A woman back then had no right in court, furthermore, a married woman didn't exist in law. Everything belonged to a husband. If she was to divorce him, then everything would be his, even children.

At one point after one scandal, he abandoned her. He took (STOLE) her children away from her (she had no right to them), and didn't allowed her to see them. When she came to visit them, the housemaid would not let her in.

All her income as a writer was processed directly to him (and he was keeping it!), by law he owned everything that she would earn. She had no money to buy food and was often starving.

She tried to fight the law, and the infant custody act was passed, allowing separated women to see their children. But after the act was passed, he took the children to his estate in Scotland.

For six years she barely saw her children. At one point, one of her sons fell of a horse and was injured. By the time she came to visit him, he was already dead and coffined. Only after that occasion, did the husband permitted her to visit her children (occasionally).

There's some history for ya.

I need not say that you and I would want to murder a person that would have treated us like that. And we would have no law to defend us. But in the future when you would want to say feminist this and feminist that, learn your history please.

I swear every time I hear someone using the word "feminism/st" with intent of abuse, the only thing I hear is a word "lowlife" (and I bet that is what you want to say yourself when you do say it). The same thing that was used for black people - lowlife. Anti racism, feminism, same roots. And people that are feminists now, are just hurt people that actually have rights.

And YES I get it that it was stupid of them to make such claims, women violence in games... But please stop using keen "feminism" remarks / smirks if you know nothing about it. Don't repeat after everybody around you!

Don't forget movies, music, the term "women and children first" and the entire lifetime channel.

Funny and true story, woman and children first (aka Bristol rules) has only been used twice since its inception, one was the titanic but I forget the others name. Its been all but abandoned now as life boats on the titanic actually ended up sinking because they were full of woman and children and there was no one to operate them properly. The woman and children just set off and did nothing to manuvere or operate the boats so they ended up hitting icy patches and sinking.

P.S. sorry for off topic, but I had to.

I know that they use the guise of "feminism" and "social justice" and self victimization to further their own careers and make money, the same way that people like Al sharpton do. That's the problem here. And when I use the word "feminist" I don't think low-life, as that would be insulting to low-lifes. Instead I think of someone on a horse so high that they think they have the right or moral authority to judge and harass people based on the sexual content of their minds, example: Anita Sarkeesian claiming that Bayonetta was designed purely for the sexual pleasure of males. So what? Who is she to judge what someone else gets off on? I think that's called bigotry. Would she say the same thing about a homosexual gamer being aroused by any ripped male in a torn shirt in a video game? No, she would not.

What people think in their own heads is THEIR business and no one elses, when they open their mouths then others can comment. When they lay their hands upside another person, they can comment. Until then, they can mind their own business. What Anita and Zoe have yet to realize is that they are mistaking sexism for people simply hating them for who they are, which is a much different thing than sexism.

Hypocrisy, thy name is social justice warrior.

Not off topic at all, thanks for sharing that.

---

To be honest, I don't necessarily agree with the level and context of some of the violence in games like this. The fact of the matter is; these games exist. They are being made and sold in stores and online. They contain a rating system and it should be the responsibility of the parents to regulate what their children are allowed to play and be exposed to, if they are underage. Plain and simple. Aside from that, many have already said; there is plenty of evidence/studies that prove violent video games do not create criminals or violent individuals.

Now here's my beef; Why is it only an issue because the game allows for violent acts towards women, and yet not an issue that it allows for (just as) violent acts towards men? Senseless violence against any human being is wrong, regardless if the victim is male or female. So why the special pleading/treatment/fuss as if violence against women is somehow more wrong or worse than violence against men? There are plenty of games that have/show pretty grotesque violence against men. In Sniper Elite 3 you can blow the nuts off an enemy. Should we pull that game from stores too, because it "promotes violence" against men?

Just to be clear, I think it's absolutely horrible the way women used to be treated and viewed by society and I'm 110% for equal rights in that regard.

Not sure I have a specific point to make with this post, more just sharing my thoughts FWIW...
