The quaity of a lot of the arguments made in this thread was atrocious.  Seriously, ad hominem all over the place.

We followed all the Linus Media Group content from Computex and there was a ton of it. The Booth babes are a part of the show. If there had been no videos posted of Computex then the only way to have experienced it would have been to have gone there, and thus we would have seen the booth babes. As long as the edited video is not in any way obscene then I dont see any reason for not viewing it. I can't remember many videos at all that had booth babes in it from their presented content.

As long as I get to see some lovely smiles I'll be happy. For me if a women has a beautiful smile, then they are attractive, so I hope the video is posted up and there are lots of smiling faces.

Your post is now irrelevant, since you already took the presumption that your 'intellectual superiority' over what seems to be at least 80% of the community here renders others' arguments invalid.

I never said that the arguments were invalid or wrong, or which side I thought was right, that would be the fallacy fallacy.  I just thought that a lot were poorly made.

If my post came across as pompous or superior, I apologize, that was not my intent.  It was also the reason for editing it.  I could have worded it better.

I just think that discussions like this can be a lot more productive when the arguments are well made.

People are to sensitive they are just girls, i really dont care either way but people who dont want to see it can ignore it people who want to see it cant see it if you dont post it. you want it to be equal opportunity if you post it, you dont have to watch it but those who want to can. If any of that made sense it was one hell of a argument though :D

Naw don't take it too hard XD

That's just how i roll  (INTJ here), we tend to analyze information in debates/arguments to find out fallacies within them

I totally get your point though and i agree to a certain extent

(But i still stick with my stand that the root of the problem is with men who objectify women :P, no qualms with those who just appreciate a beautiful woman who isn't afraid to show the world)

I'm quite at a loss as to why this has become such a massive topic, other than as a soundboard for the patriarchy/feminist arguments that you see popping up in many threads.  From the standpoint of professionalism, it makes perfect sense for Linus Media Group not to post the video, and frankly I would have taken Linus's decision, albeit without a poll.  Furthermore, it should be noted that Linus and the mod team are not stopping you from looking at the booth-babes: there are pictures on the forum posted by forum members.  To me, at least, it seems at odds with Linus's drive for a more professional set-up, and a tad disrespectful of what he is trying to achieve, for forum members to expect him to actually provide the material that some people may find offensive.

while i agree in essence to what your saying i still feel the choice should be ours as to whether we watch or not.

as for " it seems at odds with Linus's drive for a more professional set-up, and a tad disrespectful of what he is trying to achieve

",  they made the video so your point there is mute.

What are we talking about? Its about a girls that anyone on Computex can see? Or its some special private presentation?? Because if its the first case, why is that such a big deal?? If that girls didnt want to be seen, they would just stay at home, right?

first of all-Linus decided. It is his channel it is his company and he chooses what to do. 2nd- All of you that are pulling the "sexist" argument, go return all of your tech products from all the companies that support that kind of  sexist behavior or stop being such a hypocrite. For the record I voted, no. Simply because I don't want Linus loosing any of audience, especially not because someone thinks he is a sexist (because he is not ). I'm not watching this channel just for the tech, I watch it because of the specific view on the tech that offers. So I'm watching it for the experience that it offers. I was watching their Computex videos for the same exact reasons, to see their experiences from Computex, and what they think of the latest tech, Taipei, the show ect. If this video about those girls was a part of the experience they had, I wanted to see it.  Does it make me a sexist? Hell no. I consider all humans should have the same rights, and no human should be judged by the color of their skin, religion, nationality, sex and sex preferences (as long as those include consensual adults ). It is not important what I see it is important how I treat women in real life. One thing I don't appreciate as I already said,is hypocrisy. I bet a bunch of you that called it sexists,played/are playing a bunch of video games without either thinking how sexist the gaming industry actually is. (for example how many main female characters in triple A titles you know of?Lara Croft  and...? google it). I utterly respect LMG's choice not to post this video, but also it is a shame that a bunch of you hypocrites had it their way. I sincerely apologize to all the people that don't play sexist video games and use tech by sexist tech companies and are not a part of this in any other way.   Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at me.

And how many firemen are actually...women. Not many.

Yes, and your point is? I picked fireman because it is a very male dominated job (just like booth bages are a very female dominated job). You aren't going to make an argument that it's sexist that barely any women are firemen, are you? Men and women aren't 100% equal in every way so some jobs suits different genders more. For example men are usually better than women at being firemen, because it requires good physice which men have a lot easier to achive, because we are genetically made to be stronger. Women are more suited for booth babes because most customers are male and as males we are genetically programmed to gravitate towards attractive females.

If most customers of computer hardware were females, then we might have seen "booth dudes" or something like that, because that's one of the things which attract females. It's not as much sexism as it is "giving people what they are genetically programmed to want".

I voted yes, Sure they are there to catch peoples attention, If you don't support it don't watch it, Banning content because you don't agree with it is just like banning porn or video games.

For the record I probably won't even watch the video unless slick or linus says something hilarious in it.

The polls aren't closed like Linus said (another misconception on his end). Tell your friends to make an account and vote yes. We're inching closer and closer to the 90% mark. If we can get there maybe we can convince Linus to "leak" the video.

genetically programmed? so how do you explain  gay people ? As errors? Dude this is wrong on so many levels. women and men ARE equal but they are not identical. They have different tendencies towards some stuff like jobs, but no one is programmed. but this is a tech forum isn't it?

Men and women are not equal in certain areas. When achieving maximum strength, men tend to do that better. Never said some women aren't stronger than some men. But when a woman and a man are both trying to achieve maximum strength, the man will most likely be strongest. But we are programmed. We have genes. They dictate pretty much everything about us.

as for " it seems at odds with Linus's drive for a more professional set-up, and a tad disrespectful of what he is trying to achieve

",  they made the video so your point there is mute.

No, the choice should be Linus's as to what he uploads for his audience, which is why I believe the poll was not the greatest idea.  Your free will isn't being impacted by Linus's decision, as similar, if not almost identical, content is available elsewhere. Freedom of speech/expression doesn't give one the right to whatever you suppose you ought to have, merely the right to say it or make it yourself (though I fear I may be heading off on somewhat of a tangent).

If you want to see booth-babes, you still can.  Why they have to be on this particular forum only serves to offend certain people who are here.  Seeing as though the content is freely available elsewhere, preserving the status quo seems the logical choice.  Those who want to see booth-babes can, either here, but not posted by Linus, or via a search engine; those who don't want it on the forum aren't offended.  Yay for neutrality!

I'm actually ambivalent about the content myself (it can hardly be gratuitous), but don't see the benefit to the community by posting material which has clearly caused strong reactions.

In response to the "mute" point, (to which i really wanna go "[sic] moot"), I'd presume the video is a montage of all the footage that contained the women (and man, oh my!) from across the show rather than an actual attempt to document the eye-candy from the offset (someone feel free to clarify). Judging by the amount of footage and content provided by the teams, and their level of fatigue, I don't think they'd have had the time to just film them.  Perhaps editing it together and asking the community was a bad idea...either way it sparks debate and adds interest to the forum. Nice work Linus! *cheesy thumbs up*

Finally, just because, I'd like to add this: the mere fact they are called "booth-babes" seems to nullify the arguments that they aren't being objectified by the audience...(and possibly the fact I dubbed them "eye-candy", purely non-sexual, I'm gay) I doubt many people wake up in the morning, model or otherwise and think "oh yeah, I'm such a babe", and if they do, may I just say ASSHAT!

Dissect away, I shan't be offended.

This is a question of semantics when English isn't my native language but I know difference between equal and identical but his is a topic for another forum, that deals with different stuff. I do know my fair share of biology and sociology, and trust me genes are just the tip of the iceberg. But I won't rant about this here...This topic should be locked. It went to far. Topic almost went full retard, and you never go full retard :D
