Sleep vs Shut Down

I don't intend to leave it on, unless it's doing something. Electricity, while cheap, has an environmental cost. I don't get why people say "I'm lazy" or whatnot. 8 seconds of your life isn't too much to ask for a cold boot. Just seems selfish imho.

Not everyone uses a SSD.

Hello, I remember like week ago linus said "who turns off theyr PCs thees days  anyway" . Welp, I do. Just talked with friend who lost important game match because of BSOD, he haven't turned off pc for 2 weeks. So why wouldn't you turn off pc if you may lose your work/match because of it? Thees days system boots in 20 sec anyways.

his overclock is unstable, it's his own problem. it could happen at any given time not just because he keeps his pc on, lmao. my pc runs 24/7 no problem and there's no downside to it even electricity is minimal

Always powering it down when I'm not using it. Also got a switch to turn off all power, no standby for you.

I turn it off because I pay the bills but I don't shut it down just hibernate it.

Want a cookie for paying bills? :P I'm just kidding bit seriously though I pay for my own bills and I run mine 24/7 and I really doubt I pay that much more then you and it depends on the state I live in one of the less expensive states.

If you've previously won the build off please pm me so we can get something worked out.

I mainly turn it off bc of the noise at night. Not like it's really loud but if you want to sleep it's definitely annoying.

Not a true geek then :P just kidding bit soft sound actually puts me to sleep... Laptop running, computer running, soft volume music

If you've previously won the build off please pm me so we can get something worked out.

i keep mine running 24/7 unless I'm gone for a few days. I use it as a tv and radio so with out it running it sucks when i wake up at 5am and have to start it to watch something. I also sleep like shit so i tend to just keep something playing on it most times when i try to sleep

I have left it running for months at a time without any problems or crashing however it doesn't like to wake up from sleep or hibernation its an all or nothing kind of system lol

I would like to leave my computer running but it is too noisy, it keeps me up all night. If it turned on in the middle of the night, i can sleep through it easily but getting to sleep even with SP120s is difficult.

My PC sleeps after 5 hours of idling anyways so why would I want to turn it off?

I turn my computer off once every 2 weeks or so and its usually a restart.. it really doesn't hurt your components any worse then restarting it often.. I am not saying leaving it running is better then shutting it down but I know it's not worse.

The only thing it hurts is the electric bill.

I see no point letting my PC on all the time. My room is hot enough as it is, if I let what is essentially a space heater On during the night, I would die.

I don't do anything that would require me to leave it open and if I do, I just set up a task so that it automatically close After whatever I needed done is finished.

I'm not usually one to defend the environment, but not turning off your PC overnight just because you don't want to wait 10 seconds for it to turn back on is just lazy, inconsiderate and wasteful. Over a period of time you're going to use up a lot of electricity, costing the bill payer more, and if everyone took this attitude I'm sure it would culminate in significant environmental damage.

My PC stays on most of the time during the day, but unless I have good reason to leave it on overnight it gets turned off (~95% of the time).
