My school is putting metal plates into the walls

So two weeks ago they put metal plates in between the walls in the locker rooms to prevent cyber bullying. As you can guess, cell signals can't go through metal. No one did that anyways, but my school is retarded so. So now they had the genius idea of putting metal plates into the walls of the classrooms! Gah what is with some people. Just trying to use my phone ahh.

They could save a lot of money and use a industry grade blocker which our college uses.(also its nice that they can turn it off during breaks or if we go outside).

That's a major security concern, blocking out GSM signals could cause a lot of problems, remember that they are creating a metal box with no outside communication... The mastermind behind this plan should be hugged around the neck, with a rope, full of nails... Just buy a few jammers and use them, it's cheaper than this for sure, and they can be disabled in case of an emergency.

Im sorry but cyberbullying is one of the main things that shows the idiocy of this generation. Its not bullying if you can "X" out of the conversation, unfriend or block the person!

 

Also don't they realize that electronics and as an extension the internet is kind of essential in a modern learning environment?

seriously blows my mind how stupid the US education system is. they're complaining they don't have enough teachers. teachers complain it's a terrible job with not enough pay.

 

yet schools are wasting money on this sh-t. I thought it was stupid that schools even get WiFi and giving students their own tablets/laptops (in Texas, every student is given an iPad instead of a textbook now)

My first thought was to prevent people smashing the walls. We had some weak walls in our school, but they broke from people leaning onto them and smashing into them while running in the hallways. This won't really help because metal in walls only does not fully prevent the signal, unless you make the whole room metal and even then it has to have no windows too.

bullying will still happen at school no matter what. If they wanted to stop cyberbullying they would restrict the child's access to the internet the moment they left school grounds until they returned.

I hope they realize that there a re many more advantages to being able to use a cellular device during the day than not. And cyber bullying is the excuse? How is it a relevant enough threat that they made what is most likely a very expensive decision?

Oh if I was a parent, I would so sue the school system for this, its a safety hazard, they are effectively cutting you off from your children via cell phone contact, which could be argued to be an endangerment.
