Although they are kinda over doing it, it does show that net neutrality is very important.

I hope that we get to keep it

Funny, now everyones pissed when theres nothing we can do to stop it. Netflix payed and now as a result we all will pay. At least those of us in the US will pay, other places have been smart enough to see this shit coming and outlaw it.

meh, that kind of thing was made illegal here so no problem.

Is illegal for now. Unfortunately if we let these companies get a foothold on this shit anywhere, they WILL make it spread elsewhere.

this is how internet should be,

you pay a service provider for access to the internet at a certain speed.

end of story theres no caps no throttling just access and thats it.

It has a foothold, in netflix. They caved and payed the money, thus assuring the FCC rules in favor of fastlanes, and thus ensuring a big payout for some people on the hill in congress no doubt.

My point exactly. Just because it's not legal to do this in your country at this time, does not mean you are safe.

There were and are many Americans pointing out that this was and is illegal and it still happened behind closed doors and now it is spreading like a virus. Of it happens in the US it WILL happen in other countries soon after.

That's why EVERYONE needs to cancel their netflix accounts, it's a bit unfair to netflix yes, but they opened the door and now the only option we as consumers have is to make them go under by boycotting them, that's the ONLY way that TWC and Comcast will get the fucking message

Something many of us are disappointed in. Instead of launching a viral campaign to expose these ISPs on television and every social media outlet on how it's their fault Netflix is running slow due to throttling, they pay these jackasses off. Shoot, I'd have way more respect if the CEO of Netflix retired and shut down the site with a crass message that says "Thank Comcast [followed by every major ISP that throttles traffic to them]" Maybe then consumers will give a shit.

Actually if Netflix went under... guess what? TWC and Comcast would FUCKING DANCE. There aren't exactly many alternatives to Netflix to begin with. TWC and Comcast WANT Netflix to die, even if Netflix is paying them.

We're in a no-win situation at the moment, until another variable is introduced to change the dynamic. Killing off Netflix without some sort of alternative would be bad, because it would make people lose faith in the streaming business model. Then TWC and Comcast would step in with their "reliable and safe" business model of traditional paid for Cable TV, or their extremely expensive "On Demand" streaming services where you pay for pretty much every movie you watch, at like $5 a movie.

They did fight for some time. There was a point where they were putting up messages on streams that were on Comcast (I think, might have been one of the others) connections saying "Your connection is slow due to your ISP throttling this service". I believe they were forced to remove the message, but I'm a bit foggy on the details.

Netflix going down might be a good thing. Yes, the cable companies will wet their pants in pure bliss, but the consumer who was paying 11 dollars a month being forced to now spend 2-5 dollars /per/ movie, having that level of comfort completely destroyed will be enough for them to actually care. With Netflix doing pay offs, the consumer doesn't get impacted. If suddenly their cheap access to media is cut off, then the pitch forks and torches will come out. Remember, Netflix has a massive user base, that is a lot of pissed off customers. In a sick way, I welcome Netflix to shut down, even for just a single day with a splash screen on the page with all the ISP logos + information. I want to see the rage turn into action. Or even better, a protest that lets the consumer know they are not going to be bullied from the ISPs anymore and will remain closed until those ISPs adopt net neutrality.
