Carey Holzman says some stuff about LTT.

TheSLSAMG

I think Linus does great reviews and that he invests a lot of time using them but I agree, on some things, I feel like he forces it so he doesn't lose his sponsership

I've seen about 5 minutes of 2 of his video's that have slinked their way onto this forum, have no intention or desire to watch anything else he does.

No you weren't. There is no way you can type defiantly instead of definitely because of the keyboard layout. ;)

Oh, thank you for the correction. After all you would know better than I how fast I was typing.

I watch Carey Holzman and he is great at explainign the technicalities of computers, I love his repair videos in particular. However here I think he is a little misinformed considering Linus did work at NCIX, then again I don't think the point he is making that Linus is a bad guy for doing sponsorships, he's just trying to highlight that he doesn't do sponsorships and the parts he uses are paid for. At the end of the day both Linus and Carey are buisnessmen, just differrent types of businesses both involving computers. Linus is the head of a media orgonisation mainly revolving around technology, Carey is an indepedent computer technician. They both make videos but the way their videos are made is fundementally different.

Not sure why he says stuff like that... Linus got a surface (dunno which one) just to let us know how it is. If he gets payed a lot, he would not care about that.

Also he didn't review the oneplus one because he could not get enough time with it.

He tests things like he (and probably most of us) would use it in their daily life. And if that takes time well so be it. Not a problem for me.

And he said a couple of months ago he isn't a in-depth reviewer guy, he just wants to let us know the most important things about the products.

He knows that there are other guys out there that to a lot more detailed reviews, but that kind of reviews are also for other people. And again, i agree. I don't have the patience to watch an half-hour review of something. Maybe if i'm really intrested, but most of the time it isn't. Linus makes short reviews, and that's what i prefer, and that's what he creates. imho he gives every product a fair chance and a fair review.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

IMHO, the reason LTT's review seemed more positive and biased is that they picked what item to be reviewed. Linus's time is limited. He picks products that he thinks are interesting to him or us, the community. I always find that rather than bashing a bad product for the sake of it, Linus often sounds disappointed when the product he is reviewing have flaws. I appreciate that we get exposed to good and interesting products rather than bunch of bad and popular products (beats review anyone?) that are just purely click bait.

What the hell is "payed for the review" supposed to mean?

Of course they're damn payed for the reviews! The manufacturer usually sends the product to the reviewer, in this case, LTT, for them to make a review, for people to give an idea about whether the product is good or not, and the manufacturers can also see what they can improve. I don't think that Carey with his channel (never heard about him, so I can't say that I like him or don't like him) didn't say anything stupid or bad, but I also don't think that he knows the guys at LTT and he can know everything about every review that they do.

Just calm down.

EDIT: Linus is paid, but he hardly ever kisses the product's ass the entire video.

Er, seen any of his videos on corsair products?

Frankly, corsair is not that good, but Linus gives all corsair products such great reviews

I don't think that the reviews that Linus Media Group puts out are biased. However, I feel like they did go a little overboard on the sponsorships, so I see how some people may not trust them.

If Holzman is a business man then he must be a pretty bad one, after how many years being a professional he is reduced to insulting people on a youtube channel. Good business means you have at least got a website and take responsibility for your products.  No, I think he is a washed out radio presenter that couldn't move on.

I don't think he was trying to be insulting, he said Linus was a great youtuber. He was simply making the point that Linus is given his product by companies and that can lead to bias. On the other hand Holzman is a liscened computer technician, who's build guides are put into real world use unlike Linus's that are torn down and the parts re-used. I'm not saying Linus is biased, I've watched enough of his videos to know that he gives a fair honest review.

I wasn't basing my judgment on one video, he has several that are just as bad.

But to continue the discussion, are you saying that Linus's videos that detail how to assemble a computer are not enough to learn how to assemble a computer? we have no idea how long Holzmans pc's last after they are shipped. What constitutes a licensed computer technician, I am licensed for many things including PC and as an audio/visual technician but that doesn't mean I am not a narrow minded self important reviewer.

I never said that Linus's videos are not enough to learn how to assemble a computer. I'm simply saying that Linus is a product reviewer, Carey is not a product reviewer. The majority of Linus's videos (except his build guides) are product reviews wheras the majority of Carey's videos are build guides. Linus makes a living off of Linus Media Group, which includes the channels and side projects such as the FUNC advertisement. Carey makes his living off being a computer technician and does YouTube on the side, as he goes onto state in the video the only way he is able to do build guides is if customers are generous enough to give him extra time to film one. Linus's build guides are enough to learn how to assemble a computer or do other awesome projects and on top of that you have Linus's fun and entertaining personality throughout. Carey's build guides on the other hand are also enough to learn how to assemble a computer but give extra bits of detail that are good for people who wanna learn a little bit more. I'm not saying one or the other is better, I like them both just for different reasons.

Alright, here goes. I'm not jealous of not getting sponsorships. I don't have a YT channel or anything. I don't expect free stuff.

Linus is biased. I mean, everyone is biased, but he has a direct conflict of interest. He reviews every new Corsair product and makes it out to be incredible. He reviewed the 760T, and instead of commenting on poor build quality when a couple small things broke, he said it was only a minor issue and said Corsair offers great customer service. HardwareCanucks is a better resource for case reviews in my opinion, partly because of excellent B-roll footage and in depth commentary, and partly because they're willing to call it like it is. Corsair has been lowering their quality and asking for a premium price. The 200R, 300R and 230T are examples of this. The 900D has build quality issues. Every time they find a flaw they call Corsair out on it. I want to see Linus do the same.

So Linus didn't comment negatively on the stand of the

?

You know the quote I have in my signature.

Linus Sebastian said:

The stand is indeed made of metal but I wouldn't drive my car over a bridge made of it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that is a Samsung product, not Corsair. How does that disprove what I said? I know he criticizes some things, especially phones, but he won't say a damn thing against Corsair. As I showed in the comment you quoted.
