What model is this? I would definitely want one of these on my future rig even if they are rare.

Apevia Aspire AS500

for the post pcie era ones, try to find an apevia iceberg, though they’re still meant more for the very early pcie era and not much of anything like a core2 based system

and I feel it goes without saying, but don’t even attempt to put one of these units in a modern system

its a psu from 2004, it’s meant to run a system from 2004

The 1500v/1500w UPS I bought a few weeks ago but this is more like DIY.

I took apart and painted the UPS white.

Just finished building a cart for it out of scrap Melamine I had laying around to go under my desk.

This way the wires stay high off the ground and the empty space below is for any excess wiring and bricks.

I have finally reclaimed my center console by moving my CDs into the glovebox. It's so damn nice not having it literally be full of jewel cases (and 4 CDs didn't even have a case because of space), and I'm sure it'll also be nice not having them fucking rattling around in there while I drive.

got a phenominal deal on a (supposedly) "used" Fiio M11 Pro. If anything it was maybe just an open box, but everything inside looked like it wasn't touched and still had it's peels on

I would have preferred the standard m11 non-pro, but it didn't look like there was any new or used in Australia at all.

Now i don't really have many restrictions on what headphones i can use apart from the most high end audiophile shit. which don't really interest me at this point anyway.

I do have a pair of on-ears coming (beyerdynamic aventho wired) that will be my walking around and relaxing headphones. bt at some point i will get some beefy ones too.

And a nice higher end MD deck, sold cheap as defective / neither powers on and standby light doesn't come on / clicks repeatedly... well it did none of that with me, power worked just fine, it would however not read discs, opening it up it wasn't even trying to spin them... reseated the 2 flex cables to the mech and it's now working perfectly 🙂

These are so pretty and they actually sound amazing (at least compared to everything else i use) but they were also much more expensive than my other headphones and IEMS

840 EVO 250GB. Got it for free from a friend.

Spoiler

1623463784_IMG_01801.thumb.JPG.0ba5855053bd5f7ca8d191f7ac06ca36.JPG

Not sure what to do with it. My Mac Mini doesn't have an SSD yet, but I don't have a second SATA cable for the Mac mini (and they cost $20, which I don't have).

Everything else that benefits from an SSD has one (P4HT has an 850 EVO 250GB, iMac G5 has an 850 EVO 250GB, main PC has M4 128GB for Windows and MX500 500GB for macOS). I guess I could put it in Phenom but that's been down for awhile due to weird crashing issues.

Any ideas? I guess I could use it for Linux but I want to set up one of my Optane sticks as a read cache for my 80GB HDD for that.

840 and 850 are probably close enough in speed that you could run them in RAID0 because why not?

That's a fair point, and I could also swap the 850 EVO in my iMac G5 for the 840 EVO and have 2 850 EVOs.

I'll have to check SATA ports though, I think I'm running a bit low.

Always never enough ports, power connectors, slots, case space, IO slots, front panel space, fan openings, fan headers, or PCIe lanes for whatever it is I'm doing.

I just checked and for me to fit everything I want to I'll need at least a 4-port PCI SATA card. The Lian Li PC-62 case I'm using for P4HT has a crap ton of HDD drive space so I figured "why not chuck every SATA HDD I have in there?"

Maybe I can use the 840 EVO as a flash drive for now? It shouldn't be too bad at it, and currently my largest drive is 32GB.

Problem is PCI taps out at 133 (or less commonly 266) MB/s, I guess in this situation the latency of the SSD is what makes it so good not the raw throughput.

The SSD(s) and optical drives will definitely be hooked up to the motherboard. The HDDs will be on the PCI card since they won't be used as much. I have about 1.5TB shoved in there at this point, and I would add more but I don't have more drive cage space without getting rid of where I'm putting my pump(s).

When you do get that Asus board I gave you up and running, the PCI bus does have it's own clock speed separate from the FSB so you can OC the PCI bus for more speed but  beware that  it greatly increases the chances of corrupting data on the hard drives doing that. It's not worth it in a daily use situation but fun as heck for a 'push it till it breaks' kind of overclocking experience!

Got this yesterday in the mail from the Post Office. The only issue is the USM motor will only want to autofocus one direction, from MACRO to infinity. It will not go from infinity to MACRO. I've tried looking around to see if I could find a solution but I guess it is what it is.
