so in theory, the flash is the power source for that center pin.  the camera doesn't send any power to it at all.  good to know.  Thank you

That's how I understand it but it has been a while since I tinkered with cameras. To be extra safe you could always meassure the voltage between center pin and ground (should be the metal rails) while idle and when pressing the shutter button.

I've been looking at Scarlets to replace my Audiobox USB96.  The noise floor on it is so high.  I have an all black USB96 too and that's even noisier.  I use it to drive 48V through my AT2020 and to power my Sennheiser HD599.  Is your Scarlet any good?

It's good enough for me. I like good audio, but I'm no audiophile. My DT900 ProX sound great and no one has complained about the mic quality on discord yet 😄

So unfortunately the PSU on my dads computer died a few days ago. When I had built him a new one I didn't change the PSU in it (bad idea I know but it was just temporary anyways). So I bought him a new one and it came in today. Going to get it installed in the next few minutes and... and make sure that the old PSU didn't take anything with it... and... and cable... cable management.

Lil battlestation upgrade. Saved a bunch of money thanks to y'all. Wanted an i9 at first (solely for gaming). More expensive is not necessarily better. CPU is a 7800x3d.

Now looking at the next or refresh gen GPUs.

Bought the Dbrand xray skins along with a Grip case for my AirPods & some LTT shit, I think it was late November in the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals?

Got a free colouring in book with the Dbrand stuff, and the JerryRigEverything knife & LTT cable ties were free with the LTT order, which was nice.

Could you please let me know how the Wan Wristlet is after you've used it for a bit ? Because I'm currently using the long Wanyard for my Keychain and it's a bit long to always put it into my Pocket. I mean I've gotten used to it in how I have to fold it up and Stuff, but still shorter would be better in my Case.

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

Syitren SN-20, tiny cd player

it looks nice

IMG_1381.thumb.jpeg.cd40234ed27fd9641d22486136f199c8.jpeg

IMG_1382.thumb.jpeg.2bc3158c901097b2113a4ef7cde0f88f.jpeg

it goes against two portable or small cd player principles

1 you shouldn’t be able to touch a spinning disc

2 the transport needs to be quiet

This is just a hinged door, no sensor, you can totally touch the disc and you’re supposed to have it open to use the controls even while the disc is spinning

it’s not dangerous to people, it’s dangerous to the disc

its also a very noisy little motor and laser in there, I’m gonna see if I can do anything about that but oof

this one the optical out is broken, which is annoying because the seller didn’t list that, and that’s the entire reason I bought it, to plug it into my dac/amp on my desk via optical and play cds with something a little less unwieldy than a whole owc mercury pro external disc drive

I bought into the hype and got an MX Master 3S. I guess I see why it's so popular.

-snip-

I've used the OG MX Master, the Master 2S and have now been using the Master 3 since it came out. Even have two of them, one for my Desktop and one for my Notebook setup. I'm a big fan of the Master 3, not only use it for Multimedia Stuff but also for Gaming. It's my Most favourite Mouse of all time and I love the Scroll Wheel a lot. So if you like this type of ergonomic Mouse then you definitely won't regret buying it.

slender screwdriver bits, used valve island that isn't ProfiBus or Modbus for the CNC (it's hard to find that stupid "parallel" stuff)

and some fancy PE-terminals (Phoenix Contact 3214080) ... classic RTFM moment ... those are isolated (not connected to the hut rail)  ... misbuy ... yikes ... time to spend even more on this part (aka. buying the correct SKU).

I bought the regular black & the regular orange ones a while back. I have them on my other cars keys & my spare key for my daily. I'm not the biggest fan of them as they're a bit short. But they're fine. I have this for the keys for my daily & it's awesome. Just the right length & it's held up well over the few years i've had it.

Yeah I like the ergonomics of it and how well it glides. And I like how the clicks are quiet but still feel good. There are things about the scroll wheel I both like and dislike, but that's probably because it's different than other mice I've used.

Astonishing how long living ATX is.

Most propably don't know either what CF or IDE is but yet it can be mounted in their shinny new RX 7900 XT gaming PC.

It's for my P3 build called Frog.  It's so i can retire the decades old IDE HDD in there.  I can swap them too when it's switched off so i can have a little 1GB jobby for DOS 6.22 and a bigger 15-20GB one for Windows 98 stuff

I have a family member that was running an older Windows 7 machine, and I was so sketched-out that they would get some sort of malware that I built them a newer system with Windows 10. When Windows 10 drops out of support, I am going to have a lot of work to do on the computers of family around me, several new builds will be necessary for Windows 11 support.

You can just install W11 on those older machines.
1. Download W11 ISO

2. Use rufus to burn it to a flash drive

3. Rufus will offer the option to skip TPM and Secure boot checks, select that and finish the ISO burn

4. Use flash drive to install W11

5. Profit

Its unlikely that the W11 NT kernel got rid of support for older CPUs or requires fancy new instructions. As long as you're intel 2nd gen+  you should be good. Get them an SSD though if the system supports it.

Good to know. Both systems do have SSDs, although the older one is SATA II, so even a SATA SSD is choked by that interface. NVMe support is another reason I’d like to upgrade them.

AMD Ryzen 5900X

Kingston HyperX Fury 3200mhz 2x16GB

MSI B450 Gaming Plus

Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB

Few upgrades for the missus. She originally wanted the white version of the case but sadly they were out of stock. Shame because all white would've looked awesome.

Got a 'broken' Zenbook Duo for cheap, basically the lowest end Duo (10510U/MX250) but for basic tasks it's great and everything seems to work great under linux (except the NVMe drive likes to disconnect randomly causing issues but SATA M.2 drives seem to work, idk if it's the drive itself being borked or just linux things)

It was listed with keyboard issues and non functioning second screen (liquid damage) but after getting it the second screen worked fine so all it needed was a keyboard.

I will say repairability is awful though, between having to pry out glued in rubber stoppers to unscrew the bottom and the 65 screws to remove the keyboard it's pretty awful xD

why no dark mode?
