Yeah but $3 for UPS 2 day shipping? The case was already clearance priced so their margin on it must have been pretty small already. I expected like a week of DHell shipping handing it off to USPS for another week to send in a circle around the country before delivery. 🤣

My employer does 2 days shipping thru UPS across most of the US. 1 Day shipping for FedEx but they are more expensive.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Yes but I'm sure not for $3 to the customer on a $65 order!

Another day another posting of bike parts

wheelset, tires are just stand ins and aren’t even filled, testing with the single speed setup

IMG_1224.thumb.jpeg.66fea5722275ed6168bc192d43c3eeda.jpeg

I mean it works, it works like ass and this is the only position the chain tensioner works at all in, only using one jockey wheel

gonna get something else

Annoyingly this chain also only came with one quick link which means I had to suffer to get that chain on

That's a good looking grill. I've considered getting a Blackstone, but at the same time I don't grill out enough anymore to even justify the grated grill I have. I have 5 20lb LP tanks as well, so it's not like I don't have the tanks. It's just hot outside when it's grilling weather.

My Char Broil was rusting thru, as they are wont to do.  So I ponied up for a much better built unit, reading thru a shit ton of reviews.

We grill out weekly at least, and do our bacon outside as well for breakfast.

I looked at the Blackstone, and I really do want a flattop at some point.  The previous year Blackstone top was way too bulky when opened and it's hinges made it push back too far and seemed ungainly.  The new one is better designed, but the price is too high atm.   So I went with a griddle insert for grills, to see how well I'd like it.  Yeah, Blackstone or similar in the future 🙂

My parental got me these guys for Christmas. Certainly a nice upgrade from the stock GX browns that my G Pro X had, these guys made it way quieter and a bit deeper pitch like I had hoped. I kind of miss the tactile-ness since these are linears, but I'm sure eventually I'll get used to it. Pre-lubed is love, pre-lubed is life.

Decided to stop by since it's after the holidays and they already placed this ratchet set on clearance...did I really need it? Probably not. Also another gift for my brother-in-law since the Husky wrenches I got were just what he was looking for.

An iPhone 4s that still has iOS 6 installed

IMG_1260.thumb.jpeg.1a833ef1c28d155af88e1f8776482640.jpeg

What Apple did to the 4S is unforgivable and should be brought up any time people start talking about updating their operating systems in any context. They forced updates to these phones to make them obsolete, running iOS 8 or 9 on an iPhone 4s leaves them almost unusable, entirely unstable, and unreliable. If there was a way to disable updates or to properly go back to older iOS versions they could’ve resolved the issue and eaten their mistake, but no. They doubled down and promptly got sued for violating consumer trust, and then had to support it with security updates for years after its lifespan should’ve ended, and way after Apple tried to kill it.

You can’t activate a sim on iOS 6 anymore without some sketchy workarounds, so I’ll just keep it offline. It immediately tried to download iOS 8 as well which can fuck right off.
IMG_1258.thumb.jpeg.852ee1b52ec76095ea10a86863169c3e.jpeg

This is the reason why I really hate the idea of windows update and items in the os out of your control as the user, the idea that you need to be using bleeding edge fully updated windows to be secure is the exact same shit Apple did to convince people this was ok. Microsoft is doing the same thing now, your machine in their eyes is out of date, insecure and won’t even be supported for future windows versions. Fuck that and fuck them, install windows 7. Don’t even give them the chance to control an item you own.

why go to an outdated and questionably secure OS (especially if you hate MS that much)? if you dont want to go W10 or W11, just go to Linux.

More bike parts

shimano hydraulic disc brake calipers and levers, and another cheap Chinese air fork

Waiting on tubes, and then I gotta buy drivetrain stuff

edit, the fork is uncut, with the spacers the head tube is just that fuckin tall

you are supposed to cut the fork, you get an excessively long steerer tube because it’s meant to be cut, this build as is leaves the tube uncut because it’s just so god damn tall

I have a family member that was running an older Windows 7 machine, and I was so sketched-out that they would get some sort of malware that I built them a newer system with Windows 10. I would never daily a machine that wasn't getting routine security updates. When Windows 10 drops out of support, I am going to have a lot of work to do on the computers of family around me, several new builds will be necessary for Windows 11 support.

My Current Setup:

AMD Ryzen 5900X

Kingston HyperX Fury 3200mhz 2x16GB

MSI B450 Gaming Plus

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

EVGA RTX 3060 Ti XC

Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB

WD 5400RPM 2TB

EVGA G3 750W

Corsair Carbide 300R

Arctic Fans 140mm x4 120mm x 1

yeah I'm in that boat.  I've built quite a few decent, perfectly useable, 3rd/4th Gen Intel 4 core machines for older family and friends the last couple of years with the half promise that they wouldn't need to upgrade again cause "WiNdOwS 10 iS ThE lAsT wInDoWs"
