I'll definitely give this photo a 10/10. I really like the colors!

Here's another one of mine. Shot this at the time of Diwali.

It seems like you focused slightly behind the flame but can't say if it was on purpose or not but the exposure and the composition are near perfect. The only critic I can say for these kind of photos in general is and this one in specific too is that instead of jur taking a picture of a candle flame adding a slightly visible background to the image would give it more of a depth and life.

Looks filmy. Or maybe just crazy jpg compression. I just scanned a whole bunch of old photos, and something about them... even the shitty blurry disposable cameras look way better and more appealing than smartphones.

Could probably do some color editing to drop the reds in the dark areas and maybe boost the brightness a bit.

It’s crazy image compression. Image noise and film grain tend to be a fair bit more defined. The way the noise in that shot seems to concentrate around sharp corners suggests lossy intraframe compression.

Noise reduction on smartphone shots tend to make fine details look smudged. Also, fine grain, slower film still holds up well, especially medium format and larger.

My turn. I liked the subject enough to bother with, but there are a couple things such as the sign post that I just have to put up with, because not my property, so compromises were made on composition and framing (so as to avoid exposing information, the number alone shouldn’t tell much). It wasn’t even planned really. I went to shoot something else, failed, and shot this on my way to the car (because again, private property I don’t want to hang around for long in).

The composition is pretty good. I would give this photo a 8.5/10. Not sure if the graininess was intentional, but it looks good. The vignette too looks good.

At first glance, I couldnt even tell that you made some compromises to avoid exposing information. Personally, I would like some more contrast. That can just be edited. I'll give this photo a 9.5/10.

I am getting pretty fucking sick and tired of the "watch something else" responses. It's such a cop out answer because you could say that about basically anything, and it doesn't address the actual complaints. People use it as some kind of card they pull when they can't actually respond to the criticism raised but they still feel like they need to defend some company/person. If you don't like this thread then stop reading it. See how stupid it is? It's basically like telling someone "shut the fuck up". It's not a clever responsive, it doesn't address anything said, and it is rude.

It could've been both. It still has a filimic quality, just scanned and compressed to hell.

I like the contrast and colours. The framing makes it seem sturdy despite sitting for so many years (someone better restore that thing). 9/10

The flowers are pretty, but I’m unsure if the positive vignetting was really necessary. I see what you’re going for though in making it softer, and more airy. Using the radial gradient with a very mild negative dehaze, a touch of negative clarity, and softening of the color (cutting the saturation a bit, and adding a touch of luminance) would probably do the trick.

This was a morning shot from under our local bridge. Nothing particularly special, but just something to shoot at. Normally, I’m in bed quite a bit later than this. The reflections are quite nice though. It’s also not often that I shoot with my 24mm lens, and the size with the A7C is amazingly small, quite close to those old 35mm small rangefinder cameras.

Lubitel-2 (120 Medium format TLR) + Kodak Aerocolor IV 125ISO, aperture of f/3.5 and 1/125 shutter speed. I used some YoungNuo lightning sticks, one of them is seen at the top left corner - my bad...

No editing except for the white balance from scanner. Strong reds are the part of Aerocolor's specific look

000000020008_i.jpg

That’s a really awesome shot there. The lighting and composition is pretty spot on. Not sure if noise reduction was used, or if Medium Format film really has very little graininess. The Aerocolor’s red look goes really well with the environment. Don’t think any of my portraits can compare. 10/10 from me.

This was taken for a brief senior portrait for my sister. I seldom shoot my lens wide open (F1.4) so I wanted to see what it could do for a (nearly) full body shot. Shadows were pretty aggressively pulled up in post, as I didn’t have anything outside flash (which doesn’t sync past 1/250) that could illuminate against the background lighting. Maybe some of those Arri Skypanels LTT uses would’ve worked? 😛

It was quite nicely done, getting natural light to work with you, especially with models, can be quite the challenge.

It's pouring buckets here outside, so I thought I'd play with some indoor photography, but my Macro lens went stupid, so I had to resort to my 50mm.

Nikon D3x, ISO 800 (I wanted some grain in the shot) f/5.6 1/20 shutter (on a tripod naturally)

The astute of you will recognize the Precision and PowerEdge props. I used a cheap LED light with an orange filter for lighting.

Still needs a lot of work for composition etc (working without a macro lens threw me off) but I was having fun doing this.

Film is a lost art, and it's a shame really. I used to love to shoot film, but all the dev labs around here closed up shop, and I don't really have the time or the patience (or the room to be honest) for a dedicated darkroom.

I have this at my studio:

But it doesn't get as much use as it ought to (on account of it's very time consuming to use, and very very expensive for the film and development)

But it does make very lovely mistakes: (spoilered as it's mildly racy)

drone stuff is interesting but not my cup of tea

never got into film but I've got family with plenty of film gear, at some point I should figure out what they still got

I really like the framing and how you can tell at one point it got used a lot

I went 2 ways with this edit but I'll show of this version first

Good exposure, decent composition, but as you said, focus and the image is a bit soft, could fix that with your shutter speed.

Most of my Nikon glass so far, man do I love expensive gold ring zooms. I shoot them all manual on my EOS R using a manual adapter. This was shot with my only Canon lens left that I use (just bought its Nikon replacement though) my Canon nFD 50mm F/3.5 macro at 1/200 and a high ISO of 200, on the EOS R.

any recommendations of making something like that but different. I like that by the way, I think I shot it at f2.0 and also not on a macro lens. My mistake

Can’t tell if you’re referring to my image or the one you took. If you’re referring to mine, I can’t exactly help you recreate a photo with my style. It wouldn’t look good anyway. If you mean your own flower photo, then, uh, what you want to take pictures of and compose around is kind of a you thing. I can’t tell you what picture to take.
