Like BOINC does F@H support only transferring files during certain times of day?

Since I started folding I've received complaints from family that programs like Microsoft Teams and Google Meet aren't holding a solid connection on Wi-Fi.

The real problem could be some deep-rooted unrelated thing but apparently folding is making the existing problem worse.

Ideas? Some of what my family does is for work related purposes so I either need to stop folding when they need to be online or see if stopping file transfers during their work hours fixes the problem.

well the file transfers are small ~10-200mb and not very speedy even on gigabit fiber(Had it running at a friends house last year). Also they only transfer any start and finish nothing in the middle.  so i would bet there may be another issue unrelated unless you are overloading the wifi with a bunch of antique devices that could be slowing the wifi down Some routers will down grade the other devices to the speed of the slowest connection...

Yep. For all three instances i know the team number matches, my username matches, and I copy/pasted the new passkey which I made sure the folding username matched in the e-mail this time and I restarted all three servers so the client would load in the new passkey from the config file.

If this doesn't fix it I can only guess to try disabling CPU and see what that does to GPU. Points per Watt GPU is better anyways by a multitude.

Haven't been fully following what you've tried related to the passkey not being applied, but based on my own past experience wanted to check and see how you were modifying your configuration.  Were you directly editing the config file or entering through the client UI.  Something that has tripped me up in the past when configuring a new box is that if you directly edit the config file while the application is running your changes are going to be ignored and overwritten by whatever the running client currently has loaded in memory.  The service has to be completely stopped if you are directly editing the config files.  I fought with this issue for several rounds the first time I set up a Linux box until I figured that out.

God I wish that were me. I think it would be hilarious to cut all of my bullshit loose and see what I could do with more than just a base M1 Mini cranking.

M1 Mini, 1315U, 12600KF, RTX 2080, GTX 1070, i5 6500, 2x 4690's, and why not the pair of i7 920's I have for the lulz... Those would be interesting numbers (and I'd probably blow the breaker to my room lmao).

You know... It just occured to me that I am going to be missing out on a considerable amount of points in the next 24 hours 😞

I have a presentation that I need my laptop for, and that is the only client running on my account.

This was just when I had gotten my performance tuned to get a consistent 3-3.5 MPPD with my laptop 3070 (GPU only folding since I need my CPU for other things)

Can you keep it plugged into mains power during the presentation?  Its unlikely it will interfere if so. 😉  It would at least reduce the point loss.  Even if you had no Internet it should continue the WU it already has and upload it once you can connect again.

I really didn't want to say but in the spirit of fair competition, it seems this years prime PPD project is Cancer.

Really wouldn't hurt if we cured Cancer while were at it.

I think my Pi 4 is only getting around 3500-4000 PPD and the jobs usually take around 2 days. (not overclocked, didn't seem to be very stable for me)

So i'm curious what it'll look like with the Pi 5 you have here.
