As someone who became an orphan at the age of 22, I can assure you that you are making a meaningful impact on their life by simply being there. When your family history is "turn 50 and then your heart will explode one day without warning", having someone who is no more than a phone call away and will just let you talk, and just listens, is invaluable. PTSD from unexpected family member loss is very real, and having a support system means the absolute world to us.

4 HBR (High Bit Rate) is a DisplayPort standard which determines the bandwidth available for displays. Please refer to your notebook’s specifications to identify the HBR version.

My favourite standard is VESA mounts, as it seems to be the one they really shouldn't be messing up on.  I couldn't mount my mums NUC to the back of her monitor because the cut-out in the case isn't big enough so half the mount goes in the cut-out, the other half does not.  Having to buy spacers to make it fit I guess is a small thing, but annoying.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) + GL.iNet GL-X3000/ Spitz AX WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)

yeah these ultra wides i have to remove bottom screws and loosen the top screws so the bracket could slip onto the arms then had to tighten them...the vesa is buried into the back but still wasnt a deal breaker as the P or ultrasharps that dont do that cost over $150+ more.

Welp, the PPD will be a bit lower this next time.  Finishing and then temporarily storing some systems as the new standing desk should™ arrive tomorrow.  Maybe my neck and shoulders will like me better soon™.

It is CRAZY how fast your systems are!

My poor T2000 Max-Q in my company-notebook is already producing double the points of my whole Ryzen 1600/GTX 1050TI desktop. And as soon as I add more than 2 i7-10750H cores to fah, the T2000 drops significant in ppd.

So just leave me behind and rescue the world! 😄

So, I've been barely cracking 1M PPD because I've been folding on my 1070 instead of my 3080. My 3080 generates too much heat for my apartment since the heating is completely controlled by the super, and I've been feeling increasingly uncomfortable with how far off-balance the temperature feels day to day when opening the window. Draft is too cold when it's 5C, and the AC chugs too hard when it's 20C.

Now I've been seriously needing to clean my place since I've been so busy with work to tinker with anything. ADHD paralysis made it hard to get started while my likely ASD (or other general neurodivergent condition that several medical professionals were surprised I was never check for) is making me increasingly overwhelmed and skittish at how messy everything has gotten. I'll need to take the 1070 offline to clean the area around it, and I'll probably semi-retire it as a folding rig since it needs to lay on its side for it to fit non-ITX GPUs anyway. I'll probably complete its conversion to a encode machine by installing my ITX A380 full time.

I'll fold on my 3080 for a few days on and off until the event ends. A little disappointing that I never got around to adding my 3070 and 2080S to my folding rig, but I'm at least satisfied I'm going to clean up my space.

It's entirely possible that I misinterpreted/misread your topic and/or question. This happens more often than I care to admit. Apologies in advance.

@CT854 I realized I have some traits (but not the whole condition) of ADHD a couple months ago and it's really been a life changer. I don't think I always had it but after 2 years of being stuck indoors and doomscrolling my brain is fried, and I've just been adapting to it and trying to build up consistency in a way that's still fun for me (bcz you know, that's the most important thing). But yeah, I kind of know how difficult it is to watch your room/dishes/whatever become dirty and get anxious about how dirty it is and how that cycle proceeds. I only wish that I'd realized sooner and started adopting more creative ways of dealing with it, because it never was a discipline problem...anyway, good luck and I'm glad you're cleaning up now! 🙂

Describing my past behaviors to several therapists and psychiatrists, they were collectively stunned that this had literally never come up before. To them it was basically textbook ADHD/signs of ASD.

I've always had trouble focusing attention on certain things, I've always been jumpy, have a million thoughts, but I also have a tendency to turbo-focus on certain things for sustained periods of time. At the same time, my brain needs order and structure (which is the ASD part of it), while it also actively sabotages/has extreme difficulty dealing with attempts at creating it (the ADHD part).

It's kinda a huge mess. Just gotta take it as it goes.

It's entirely possible that I misinterpreted/misread your topic and/or question. This happens more often than I care to admit. Apologies in advance.

No seriously it is real shit to deal with most of the time

Honestly it's been super freeing. There's a reason I have a bunch of weird sensory issues and am oddly sensitive to certain situations, and it's nice knowing that it's not a moral failure of mine that makes it difficult for me to function sometimes.

It just kinda sucks because although it aligns with other anecdotes of people with combined ADHD/ASD (symptoms conceal each other, tends to excel academically to a certain point), things fall apart when I hit a wall (every single year of my PhD program tbh). At least I have a framework of understanding it... but it suuuucks.

It's entirely possible that I misinterpreted/misread your topic and/or question. This happens more often than I care to admit. Apologies in advance.

Don't even know what I have, I will either be scatter brained, hyper focused or get sleepy if I'm trying to focus on something and my brain isn't having it that day.  My Doctor wouldn't even commit to saying its Fibromyalgia, just said it sounds like it and does kinda make sense since I've had anxiety all my life.

Yeah I think we "might" have all upgraded our hardware before then:

I can't get over this. It's like everything I do in school just turns into one of my hobbies of the week. I lose motivation after a year or two and just give up. I feel like I am destined to never complete anything.

I also have a tendency to turbo-focus on certain things for sustained periods of time

The time blindness is so real. I remember when I water cooled my PC I spent the whole day on it, no breaks, no meals, just next thing I knew, it was dark.

Yeah, that sounds like me and @GOTSpectrum, the ADHD + fibro gang. (Tried) Wake up this morning being an extreme fatigue day and had the "elephant on chest" and limbs of jelly that I couldn't lift, and struggling to open my eyes, fully awake but seemingly trapped half asleep on the bed.

@CT854 I've been struggling to finish university almost solely from the quicksand downward spirals, and not being able to get Brain to commit to learning and understanding organic Chem.

With ADHD, you fall somewhere on the ASD spectrum. Mine is fairly low, high functioning, with mild sensory issues (especially tags on clothes). However, I also fall victim to the "order from chaos" where I physically have to fight myself NOT to start sorting and organizing and labelling. When I worked for Home Depot, I was able to do it constructively where in the course of a week every overhead tag had been relabelled, properly coded, counted, and located. I still compulsively do merchandise pulling when shopping, and yesterday was at a discount store and only realized I was doing that after organizing and categorizing half the shelf of cologne. And walking away repeating to myself that "I don't work here", knowing the display shelves are still completely chaotic still gives me anxiety.

Negative self talk is how we get stuck in the quicksand spiral. Lockdown was one of the few things that helped me mentally with that. I went from Biotech wanting to be in a lab, to environmental where now the two year dopamine following is getting me to where I need to be. And honestly, I could really find myself thoroughly enjoying being an environmental compliance officer. The few months that I was treasurer for my club at uni was super stressful and irritating at the inaction of prez and VP, but going from not knowing how to write a budget to being asked to run the workshop, I spent 3 days and about 6hrs of sleep writing it. The level of structure and definitive rules really made brain happy.

And those rules, or lack thereof, might be why organic chem is so difficult for me, because while there are a few standard rules that are set in stone, most are "sometimes, but not always" "always, except for when it doesn't apply" and "it really depends on the situation"

How do I know how many active days I have had so far?

If you go to the EOC tracking, go to daily WU and count how many data points you have that are 1 or greater since the start of the event.
