I use Linux on all but my gaming system

 

It seems I had one too many alcohol free beers, between Cbigfoot breaking the sheet when he built it and me just bumblefucking around we have now got the ranks right.

Found another GPU in the drawer, might be bit old for folding.

 

This seems to be early PCIe as it has a PCIe to AGP bridge chip on it.

well my bad lol it happens when its the first time you build out the sheets...(may not have had the proper info tfr between weeks) the issue has been fixed and should not reoccure

also @gravitywave @Antistatic12  @lucas.fnbr @Mastersam123 may want to check your systems as patch Tuesday may have attacked. and taken you down...

You'll get however long it takes to swap the NVIDIA adapter cable to the Corsair one, when it arrives.

System is all good, although bloody hot when on. The folding month started and weather was all gloomy and cold, then changed to warm days
I had it off as I had a friend over, I didn't want to subject her to the insane heat.

The 6000-series was the first one to incorporate PCIe into the mainstream series, I had lots of trouble finding them when I was buying a graphics card for my Celeron (P4) w/ an 865 chipset. The GeForce 7000-series was the last nVidia chip to have AGP support AFAIK

My ppd will go up slightly. Points were down. 3070 went to the fiancé now that she’s trying to take streaming seriously on a laptop. Got a killer deal on a 3080. Traded that to a co worker for $200 and a 3070 to FE that’s now folding for me. Paid right around $600 for the 3080 with shipping so about $400 for the FE isn’t bad. A bit over priced but oh well.

So far so good with the Dell Precision T3500. It's been running for nearly 24 hours now with no crashes, and the only thing I've done differently with it is leave at least one GPU folding at all times. 

 

I'm still strongly considering replacing it after the event is over. I'd love to upgrade to a dual socket model like the T7610.

Seems the RTX 4080 is yielding 10-16MPPD. versus 15-26MPPD for the 4090

That's kinda what I expected tbh, I think the CUDA core count gives most of the performance given at 50% TDP (~225W) you can still push 20M despite losing about 600Mhz on the clock speed.  The 4080 is still pushing the same clock rate that is above the optimum efficiency rate.

If I weren't actually TRYING to heat my room, I'd set my TDP lower.

The 4090 seems like a brilliant Folding and deep learning card (the purposes I would be using a new graphics card for, hypothetically), but I just can't wrap my head around paying 3000+ AUD for it - when the RTX 3080 12GB is just 1300 AUD and would serve the purpose just as well

Well for me it was the fact there were days last summer where I couldn't game because the 3080 put out too much heat.  So being able to just clock it lower and not lose too much performance is a big win, especially if I'm playing a game with DLSS 3 frame generation support.  I'm more sensitive to screen judder than input latency, within reason.
