Just curious what everyone is doing with GPUs at MSRP

holy crap prices, might be picking up another 3080ti for 2nd rig while i wait for AD102 to be "reasonable" and available if it drops another 5-10%

I have decided to get the highest tier graphics card as my next considering 3090 AND 3090ti still sells over MSRP, so no upgrades for me in the recent future.

Ok but it isn't necessarily at MSRP yet. It's dropping but it's not down to MSRP in many places. 

 

Also like do you actually have a good reason to spend over $1k on a second 3080 Ti. Idk about you, but just spending $1k without putting a ton of thought means you are either foolish or just plain rich.

I'm planning on upgrading to 1440 later this year, so my 5500 XT probably won't keep up well unless FSR 2 is as good as we currently think it is and has many supported games. When I do upgrade I'll probably wait for next gen and get whatever is best for €400-500

If you were tenacious and in the right Discord server, Best Buy had MSRP cards since September 2020. FE's as well. Early on it wasn't too hard to get one in your cart if you were on top of the notifications and I managed a few for myself and friends/family. 

 

Because of that, I can't bring myself to pay over MSRP.

If you always just "wait for the next gen", you're gonna be waiting forever and ultimately, will not have accomplished anything lol that's my outlook on it anyway. If you want a new card, can find it at MSRP, AND YOU feel like it's worth it. Go for it. Money comes, money goes but scalpers still gonna scalp and miners still gonna mine so take advantage brotha, take advantage

They realistically might have enough cash burning a hole in their pocket that buying a second 3080Ti isn't such a bad idea. For most people, I would highly recommend NOT buying a second GPU, especially such a pricey one.

Waiting for the 5000 series, though I may consider the 4080 if the prices aren't insane ($700-800 absolute maximum). Bought my 3070 FE for MSRP back in November.

 

No games coming out at least over the next year or so that I see giving my card a hard time, even at 1440p. At least as far as the games I'm interested in are concerned.

my 2080ti has a fan and heatsink rigged to it , the stock fans were off when idle, just unlucky i guess, t's a work pc so the threshold to replace isnt that high.

 

my 2dollar lunch salads are now 4dollars, instead of 1500 salads a gpu, i can now get one for 350 salads, just thinking about it

I got a 6700xt for msrp, $512 with shipping and tax from amd direct. I mainly play older games so this should hold me over for a few years. 
I bought everything new this year and I’m gonna hold out at least 2 years with what I have now.

The 6700xt is solid. I rocked one for 7 months until I managed to do a little GPU market work and upgrade to 3080. But if I couldn't have gotten a 3080 at reasonable price, I would have kept my 6700xt until the next generation or two.

I just went for 6700 XT recently as I got it at basically MSRP (700 eur). I expect prices might grow again with some logistics disrupted due to war.
