After one week of nothing at all, known leaker Jon Prossor from Front Page Tech has revealed his renders of the 2022 iPhone, the iPhone 14.

Prosser said that while some aspects of the iPhone 14's design and dimensions could change between now and the device's likely release in September 2022, he is confident that the overall design will remain largely the same when mass production begins.

Prosser says that he received images of the iPhone 14 Pro Max from a source. In order to protect that source, Prosser worked with Ian Zelbo to create renders based on those images. According to Prosser, the iPhone 14 will not feature a camera bump, something made possible by an overall thicker design.

 

The design bares many similarities to the iPhone 14 with round volume buttons and that the glass sits on top of the antenna bands. The chassis is said to be made from titanium, something that has previously been reported by analysts at JP Morgan Chase.

 

On the front, Prosser says that the iPhone 14 Pro will feature a punch-hole design on the front, corroborating Kuo’s previous reporting. Lightning connectivity is still located on the bottom of the device.

 

An important caveat to all of these rumors, however, is to remember that we are still over one year away from the expected introduction of the iPhone 14. This means things could still change prior to any official announcement from Apple.

Prosser says he only saw images of the "iPhone 14 Pro Max" and has no knowledge of the technology being used to enable these design changes. The renders shared show several colors, but those are made up for the render, with the exception of the gold color. Prosser says he's seen this color, though it may not be final.

 

Other new design changes include round volume buttons, similar to the iPhone 4, and changes to the glass-sandwich design. This blend of design changes make the "iPhone 14" look like a futuristic iPhone 4.

 

Another rumor says Apple could bring titanium alloy to the frame of its "iPhone 14." That same report suggests the 2022 iPhone cycle will be a "supercycle" thanks to high demand for its expected upgrades.

 

Other long-time rumors for the iPhone suggest it could go port-less, meaning there will be no Lightning port or USB-C port. Such a device would rely upon wireless communication, wireless charging, and perhaps only a physical connection via MagSafe for data and power when needed. However, Prosser's leaks show a Lightning port in the "iPhone 14."

 

My thoughts

Wow. iPhone 14, six days before iPhone 13 (or whatever it's going to be called). Insane. Hole punch display? Mmm. No camera bump? Check. Titanium chassis? Check. 

 

Jon Prossor is no 100% leaker, but he is fairly decent at this stuff. Previous reports about the new iMacs, AirTags design and much more was made by him. But still, take this rumor with a bit of salt. You shouldn't rely on rumors, but this does look sick.

 

Just admire it for yourself.

I dont have one, but its the first phone since the X came out that ive really said: I want that because its great. Hands on its perfect.

 

(new iphone se may also be seen as a good upgrade for someone with say a iphone 6 that wants a better phone ( like new battery, faster, etc) and toutchid)

Agreed. I tried it out in my local store and it felt amazing. Only one thing: Touch ID. Still on my iPhone 8, and it is starting to get a bit choppy.

Provided it's accurate... I still plan to upgrade to this year's iPhone, but that's because I have an XS and I'm feeling its age (it's still reasonably fast and takes solid photos, but time has clearly moved on). I can certainly live with a smaller-but-still-there notch.

If you need to, do it. But just know that the iPhone 14 will be big, no matter if these renders are accurate or not.

Yeah, I did like that about my iphone 8, being on my xs max suckes without that, because I use it in public a lot, but alone having face id is so convient.

Still only has 2 cameras, the notch, no touch ID, same screen res, no high refresh rate, and no GSM. Side by side it even looks similar to the iphone X and that's not what I want. Sure there are spec improvements and things like 5G but never once have I been wanting my apps to launch faster or am in areas that have true 5G.

Oh, quite likely, and I'll be happy for those upgrading. I just don't want to succumb to "just wait!" syndrome where people suffer needlessly, hoping the next update is The Big One that makes them feel better. Buy when it makes sense for you — there will always be a better model around the corner.

Its not that. Its the size. Its smaller than the iphone 10, and lighter too.

And the sharp corners are something that I enjoy. Plus magsafe is cool for the magsafe charger.

Its the size of like an iphone 8/new SE. Its the most reasonably priced flagship line phone from apple, its the most reasonably sized flagship line phone from any company right now.

Sure if your main concern is size. I was fine with the 6s plus so I'm not too picky but I agree there is a large market of people who want small phones

Now to comment on iphone 14 renders here, i like most of it but two things I don't like are:

The split volume controles. Unless they serve a feature purpose (like press both at the same time for acessability something), use the old ones.

These seem to flat. I actually like phones having camera bunps, its a lot less THIS IS A SLAB OF GLASS when it has somthing sticking out.

These are also a year from release, foldable iphones are going to be under TIGHT wraps since its a new model idea. Like tighter than normal. These phones are still going to change a bit.

Debatable. My S20 looking like someone hit it with a holepunch isn't the most attractive thing to look at. However, I'll take that over the ugly af notch Apple's drunk design team thought looked good.
