Why has no one made a easily upgradable laptop

You would think that there is a market for some kind of laptop with a socketed cpu really easy battery, RAM, and storage replacement. So why has this not happened yet? If it has please inform me.

You would think wrong.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

There have been laptops with MXM graphics cards, desktop CPU sockets and sodimm slots for ages. Demand is not there and they are expensive and not I would call a "laptop". I remember seeing ones for sale going as far as 2010.

Oh,but it did happen - with my laptop!:

It's a Fujitsu Lifebook AH-532

Fujitsu-Lifebook-AH532-3.jpg?fit=1080,99

I currently have a core i5 3230M in there,and plan to upgrade to a Core i7 3632QM.

I already upgraded the hard drive to a SAMSUNG 860 EVO 500GB SSD.

And i plan to upgrade the RAM to 16GB,currently i have there two sticks of 4GB.

Also, look at those USB ports!,There is a SD card slot,ExpressCard slot,Headphone jack,a CD drive, dedicated NVIDIA graphics and more.

And with these huge vents - How will it overheat?

All these things existed and were the norm in the business and professional laptop space for years.

Dell, HP and Lenovo all made machines which were upgradable and easily user serviceable with as few proprietary key parts as possible until haswell when intel stopped offering socketed mobile processors.

hell, this last one is a latitude E6410, it opens with a single screw on the back and then the entire rear cover slides off, revealing everything in the laptop.

If you wanted machines like this you had to have bought professional hardware, these are not hp pavilions, Dell inspirons, or Lenovo ideapads. These are Elitebooks, Latiudes, Thinkpad T and X series , Probooks, Precision’s snd Thinkpad W and P series.

Thinner laptops have inferior cooling solutions anyway, and with how manufacturers quite down the fans they can easily become a furnace.

In all honesty business class laptops and smartphones are the best.

Demand isn't there. There's no real use for things like that for the average consumer. Even I wouldn't bother spending money on upgrading a laptop. It's simply not needed. As for storage and RAM, most laptops do have those as easily upgradable items. Only slightly more difficult than opening up your PC tower. Same with the battery. If you want easily changeable batteries, look at any number of Lenovo laptops that offer them.

HP+Dell oligopoly? it's better to manufacture disposable crap that's obsolete or breaks after a couple of years than making it upgradeable and easy to fix.

Call it the lightbulb conspiracy, planned obsolesence or whatever you like

Eh, it's more lack of demand. Obsolete isn't really a thing that upgrading to a same generation chip would help most people, breaking comes largely down to the person who's handling it.

For you, maybe, they're fine for most people, and that's why they exist.

because modular and upgradeable means bulky and awkward compared the the sleek ultrabooks that are around. Even a decent degree of serviceability means it can't be super thin and light anymore unfortunately 😕
