Gas Shortage in South East USA

If some of you did not hear, there was a cyber attack on one of the major pipelines that provide fuel for almost 50% of the East Coast. North Carolina has already declared a State of Emergency due to there being a gas shortage (that pipeline ended in a North Carolina port). Prices will certainly go up regardless if you are affected or not. If you live in a state where you get fuel from that pipeline, I'd get a couple of gas cans filled just in case. Good luck, and share this info with those who might need to know. I will try to provide updates when possible. If someone else has updates/info please share it.

the attack only effected the business side for files and documents and in no way had any effect or connection to the areas that control the supply or control of the fuel. The company shut down on their own in a preventative measure but it has been called unnecessary by most folks.

 

I was in NC a few years back when there was a broken pipeline and there was no gas. I never saw the effect personally because i knew plenty of gas stations off the beaten path that most folks weren't willing to drive out of their way to get to, and would rather just bitch and complain the fuel stations in the middle of the cities were out of gas.

I heard on the radio today, while I was at work, that things are "suppose" to be relatively normal after the weekend.

I was also told that Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia were the states most affected.

Does anyone have info to share on the group? I'd go searching but I have a paper to finish before studying for finals.

The sad part is, oil refiners go down all the time for months at a time and no one bats an eye. They might bitch because Oil goes up which means fuel goes up, but no panic. The pipe line goes down for a few days and everyone looses their shit. 

 

I seen people putting fuel in unsafe containers as well. One lady was caught filling plastic bags. The saddest part is these people have the right to vote. No wonder our country is sooo screwed. These people have no sense. If they played it as business as usual, there probably wouldn't have been a shortage.

I've never tried to put gasoline in plastic bags. Do I still have the right to mock Canada?

You have wonder how they were planning to transfer that fuel from those bags, into their tanks. It's certainly not like bagged milk where there are the appropriate pitchers for sale.

I find it hilarious how confused people are about bagged milk. 
 

Once you understand how it works, it’s one of the most straight forward concepts. Also those bags use less plastic than a jug does, and it makes them lighter to transport, making the whole process less carbon intensive.

The pipeline is back up and running for the most part. We will probably still see gas prices at a higher price for a while.

 

Now if only I could get my essay done and be ready for my exams this week.
