Poll: What Content Do you Want to See from Linus Media Group

LinusTech

Just more tech content on the main channel would be my preference.

But if you guys really want to do some different stuff, I guess the toys/collectibles would get my vote. Pretty sure Youtube doesn't need another gaming channel.

Question here for the gaming channel. Does that channel only focused on PC games or is it multi-platformed?

Ow my.... please give us a part off the video when the cops arrive LOL! I mean, pretty weird that people don't know that toy guns are forced to have a bright orange muzzel?

I would've been more worried if a person would walk in my street with something like this lol: (still orange tip)

I have to agree with most people here.. there are a lot of gaming channels.. I don't know any about toys lol. So you would for sure get quicker growth in the toy section part.
That said, with a mixture of both.. you will likely get the chance that people who only look for gaming channels, will find yours and then find a random toy video and check it out.. and like it?

I mean, i am only thinking realistic here.

As well, I bet that the new guys that you will hire will have to do more tech video's?

You have the Linustechtips, QuickTechie (<3), WAN show, NCIX netlinked daily, a lovely wife, a kid, Luke and 2 cats to take care off. Don't try to chew to much at once?

Something to replace the cat channel... you know to make the viewer feel closer to you... like out-takes or vlogs...etcetc

do not be "that channel" that becomes overly formal and stiff...

Techquickie/linustechtips is formal enough...

I would like to see a more informal approach to both. One like kanabalize posted above me, where the viewer feels closer to you etc. I would like to see you both participate in both of the channels as well. Like maybe Luke does some toy stuff with Linus and you guys do some cool slow mo shots running around with a rapid fire toy gun or something. And for the gaming channel, I like the reviews but again they seem very formal. You could maybe throw in some lets plays. I especially loved the one where Linus played AC4 when he did the Twitch sponsor thing for PS4 :).

To be honest I'm personally not a toy enthusiast and I don't think there will be much of a benefit for the majority of people from the tech channel. That said I fully support it as it seems that its something Linus is really enthusiastic about so he may rekindle my childhood love of toys, A second reason for supporting it is that the second channel can act as a breather for them as repeating the same tech stuff must become routinely and dry no matter how enthusiastic it is and it could be a matter of time before we loose that sparkle they have currently. Its kind of like; even though I'd love to have an after party like the old days with Luke and Linus I'd much prefer Linus to be able to spend some quality time with his Family.

My concern is that gaming is really hard to get into with a few partners having all the ads tied up for youtube (eg Machinima) - putting game footage online is a hassle...but that's your task :)  I would enjoy a bit more gaming content that isn't too commercialized (polaris/tgs/g4) - especially good deal/indie coverage.

As for toys - so long as they are awesome cool toys...count me in.

The toys channel is something new (to me) and I'm sure Linus will only review the best and coolest out there. Also, this may sound stupid, but I love videos filmed outside. You should do that more often.

The gaming channel could work if you bring something new to the table. I mean everyone and their dog is doing gaming reviews and gameplays.

Toy channel it is.

I think it would be awesome to have some game reviews every now and then and ofc some star citizen videos once it's actually playable, but the toys thing is not something you see everywhere, but everybody and their brother has a gaming channel, so I guess a mixture wouldn't be bad

I thought that both videos were good, however I was not that interested in the toys channel because the products are not something that I would consider purchasing. Maybe more of a tech toy focus.  I like the gaming video, however I though that it was missing a general description of the game.  I did not know what the game was about, or the type of game until the end of the video.  Good videos overall though.

I voted for toys and games but I really wouldn't want to see games take over the channel (which I can see easily happening).

Both. I don't 100% agree they should be separate from the main channel unless there will be 100 toy videos for every tech video. There are already giant nerd toy videos on your channel. Storm Trooper/AR Drone.  There is already gaming coverage. Some of my favorite content was your coverage of the Pax indie game booth and I can't count how many times I've heard you say Star Citizen or Steam OS,  though a more in depth look at these topics would be more than welcome. Will your existing viewers like myself who are interested in these topics join you in the new channel? I'm willing to say that I will but honestly I'm too lazy so no I won't. There are already Linus videos that I don't watch "Tech Quickie" "NCIX Tech tips with Linus" not because I don't want to watch them but because I don't know they exist even though I'm subscribed they don't show up in my inbox. I also understand that some people don't want to hear about toys or games just like I don't want to hear about cell phones but I don't complain about it or unsubscribe because of all the cell phone reviews, I just skip over them. When I was a kid if I wanted a game I bought it from a toy store (because we didn't have Gamestop or Steam back then) so I would argue that games are toys and toys are tech.  I understand the reasoning for separate channels but maybe there should be a central hub for all of your content, a Videos tab here on your site that is searchable with a detailed subscription/notification system. This would improve views on less popular videos and drive traffic to your site. On a side note I would love to see a Raspberry Pi Review and I really want to see the Linus Vs Linux Challenge.

I liked Linus' video more, It was good to watch.

Slick's video was good, but the budget focus is kind of screwing itself over. I think it should have a few budget features in it, but also new Triple 'A' titles like Titanfall etc.

Compatible with Windows 95

gamming content needs to be free flowing and non ridged, more then one person in it, not just luke. toys has heeps of potential, especially with linus's humor!

The question would be... Do you have enough time to make enough videos for both toys and games? I votes for toys and games because I liked both videos, but if you don't have enough time to make enough videos for both topics?

Let's say you make a gaming OR toys channel. 5 videos per week for either of them (let's just say that). Would you be able to make 10 videos for a mixed channel, or only 7-8 maybe?

Desktop: i9 12900K - 64GB 6000 MHz CL36 - RTX 4090 X3 OC

I say lets make both but please focus on something different for toy is pretty unique as it is because there aren't many but games are WAY too many so if slick wants to make a gaming channel you are going to have a hard time so I suggest like a guild gaming meaning we go into a game create a guild and we all play as a group and do game play of boss fights it will cover your gaming channel basis and allows you to interact with the public, but that is only my ideas.

I would like to see both of those formats in the same channel. And eventually if necessary, moving one of them to its own channel. Great job guys.

I'm sorry, but i don't see any of these being well running channels.

I'll explain (this is for me personally):

A toy channel would be funny, but not something that i'd watch on the regular. Toys are fun, but most of them are basicly useless and they'll almost never will be anything worth spending money on (unless you have money lying around anyway) and so i think the target audience is too small and de video's would be just about stuff that doesnt matter at all.

A gaming channel sounds more interesting, although the way Slick did it wouldn't be the form i'd enjoy watching it in. The review was really long and became uninteresting after a while. I think if you'd want to do cheap games with great quality you could do a top five series every month or so with a small explaination about the game and more games in one video. Also gaming optimizing tips en ways to enhance gameplay would be cool.

I think it's really cool you are trying to innovate and try new things on LinusTech, but i don't think these ideas in its current state aren't going to do it (at least for me they won't).

I hope i helped, i wasnt in any way trying to be an asshole, but i just wanted to give my thoughts.
