Posted November 12, 2020 I have a Core2Quad q9550 that's still in use as a HTPC. But the main machines for me and my girlfriend are Ryzen 3700X and Ryzen 5950X currently waiting for the CPU to arrive. Posted November 12, 2020 CPU+Mobo+RAM are about 2.5 years old or so. GPU is about 4 years old now. Or maybe 5. Still running all the modern AAA games at stable 60fps on high/ultra settings on 1080p. The only one I have to keep on medium settings to get stable 60fps is RDR2. I don't see any need to upgrade right now. My plan is to wait for true next gen console games that should start coming out in 2-3 years or so, and that's when I'll probably upgrade. Posted November 12, 2020 GPU is getting up there in age, think its about 3 years old now. But the rest of the system (CPU, mobo, RAM, SSD, PSU, casing) are all within the past year. Holding out for the RX6000-series, although tbh I don't really need it that badly even considering the GTX1060 is still plenty capable right now. I bought a pre owned desktop in 2015/2016. The components were from 2013 or so. My computer started dying so I upgraded in 2018/2019 to ryzen. Kept my gpu from 2015 which was an upgrade I made when I got the used desktop. My next plan is to upgrade to ryzen 3 in due time. I am waiting for a powerful yet electricity efficient GPU to drop before I upgrade my graphics. Laptop: Windows 8 i7u, 16gb ddr3 laptop ram, AMD r9 m275 mobile gpu Later replaced hybrid drive with cheap ssd & installed Linux Used desktop: i5 3450 12 GB ddr3 ram. 3x 4gb, Nvidia gtx 960 Upgraded to r9 390 after like a month Past owner didn't give me hard drives which was big sad New desktop: Ryzen 2400g, 16 gb ddr4 (less than 3k mhz) kept r9 390 Samsung 1tb 860 ssd, 1tb 7200, 4tb 5400. Posted November 14, 2020 I don't have a main PC, but I have a few devices that I use frequently. From newest to oldest: ThinkPad T14: General purpose laptop. IBM System x3200 M3 (2009-2010): My desktop. PowerBook G4 1 GHz (titanium, 2002 model): I use this a lot for fun and sometimes for work. My go-to "coffee shop" machine ThinkPad T23 (2001-2002): Use this all the time for connecting to stuff over a serial port, and for general browsing with dillo or netsurf. DEC AlphaStation 250 4/266 (built in August 1996): used for work daily, mainly for SSH'ing into work machines for troubleshooting. Posted November 16, 2020 2 months and change old based on when I got it put together but as for the hardware coming out definitely older than that .... Intel i5 9600k paired with a Sapphire Radeon Pulse RX 5700 XT As for the older stuff I used with my previous build that I am using with the new build well the PSU is an Antec Earthwatts psu that is at least 6 years old. Excellent buy. Has never failed me with anything I have thrown at it. Also I am using an EVGA Toro X10 I won in a contest. Not sure when I got it but it was some time before acquiring the new build parts and well I can say in terms of quality it has been far better than Logitech and Razer mice that died on me in less than a years time. Posted November 16, 2020 After the upgrade to Ryzen 3000, an RMA for my ADATA SSD (replacement has the updated controller), 4TB HDD and case that had its box unsealed within the last 2 years (manufactured around 2010)...my rig really isn't old anymore. The only second hand parts as well are now the bluray drive and added 2x USB 3.0 ports. This is an Achille's Boat paradox. Posted November 24, 2020 I’m in the same boat as OP. Bought a PC from a friend a few years ago with a Gigabyte X58-UD5 and i7 920. Since then I upgraded to a Xeon X5670 and 16GBs of Ram. I don’t know exactly how old the parts are but the oldest must be the Motherboard or the CPU so I would guess 10-11 years by now. Posted November 24, 2020 The CPU is an i3-3220, but before this it was a Pentium G620. Intel DH61HO for the motherboard, and two sticks of 2GB RAM with release dates (according to CPU-Z) in 2012. I'm still using the Seagate drive that "came" with the PC, which is atleast 7 or 8 years old? The GPU is a GTX 750Ti I bought used, so around 6 or so years old.
